This Bible was handed down to their daughter, Salina, and then to her son, Sam.  My Grandpa (Theodore Hoxit) & Sam were cousins.  Grandpa went to visit Sam in the hospital two weeks before Sam's death.  His daughter made a copy for Grandpa. Sam's children and step children are listed on page 2.  Don't know where Ninive was?  Near Balsam Grove in Gloucester Township, Transylvania County - centered about half way up Tanasee Gap Road.

Salina Jane Owens was 6 months old when the Earthquake at Charleston S.C. took place  1884.
The winter of 1883 was the coldest and deepest snow.

On June 17th 1906 the largest Hail Storm ever known.  Hail one foot deep.

Rich mineral vein found on the cold creek farm by W.B.Owens and Capt M.R. Gleason 1907

Father J.B. Woods and M.W. Wood murdered on February 19th 1900..

(Family Tradition notes - the mine turned out to be of little value.  The Woods murder took place in Tennessee.  John was apparently caught in the cross fire and hit in the knee and died from the infection about a week later.)
