Walters Cemetery
Location: McGee's Mill Road
Directions: NC 57 (Semora Road) to Concord (Concord Methodist Church on the left and the intersection marked by a flashing yellow light. Turn right on Concord-Ceffo Road and follow it several miles, pass the Ceffo Fire Department on left, and then a stop sign (this is Ceffo). At the stop sign, turn left on McGee's Mill Road. At this point I defer to the WPA directions, so 5 miles and 1/4 mile off the road to the east!
Ernest Blalock, in his cemetery list, referenced Ruth Davis' store. Ruth is now a resident in assisted living and I don't know if the store is open. The store building is on the left and may be about 5 miles from Ceffo. The best suggestion I can make is that you drive approximately 5 miles from Ceffo, try to find the old Ruth Davis store, and stop and ask for help!
Survey: WPA survey
Interest in this cemetery: Several researchers are interested in finding this cemetery. See a post to the Person County Message Board.

History of Wheelers Church

A short history of this church is included in The Heritage of Person County, Volume I, article 98. "On Saturday July 3, 1791, the first services were held at Wheeleys Meeting House. This was an arm of Flat River Church, according to the 1792 minutes and separated from Flat River Church on September 8, 1792 and was then called the Upper South Hico Church. On February 3, 1816, recorded in Book D, Page 492, Nathaniel Norfleet of Person County, N.C. deeded five acres of land on which the Meeting house know by the name Wheeley's was situated. The name was later changed to Wheelers as it is know today."

The Southern Historical Collection at UNC Chapel Hill includes two volumes of minutes from this church. The reference from the Collection web site follows, parts of this collection are digitized and available online:

Stephen Wilkerson Cemetery

Location: Charlie Carr Road
Directions: West on Leasburg Road (US 158). Left on Rolling Hills Road (SR 1166) just past Lea's Chapel Methodist Church. Left on Charlie Carr Road (SR 1160). My recollection is that the cemetery is on the right or south side of Charlie Carr Road in a field. I believe that the cemetery is on property now owned by Guy Carr. At the time of my last visit some 15 years ago, most of the stones were no longer standing but were flat on the ground.
Topographic map. (Note that the road names shown on the topographic map are not current.)
GPS Coordinates: 36° 22' 04"N, 79° 05' 24"W (WGS84/NAD83) These coordinates and the location on the topographic map are a best guess. The cemetery is in this general area but it has been years since I was there.

Graves:
This information is from my notes made on a visit to this cemetery on April 8, 1985. This list may be incomplete and at least needs a field survey to confirm what I have included here. The information below is NOT a transcription of the information on the stones.

My notes indicate that stones were found when I visited this cemetery in 1985 for the following:
