Location - Intersection of Flat River Church Road and Bessie Daniel Road. Coordinates: 36d 20m 26.0s N; 78d 59m 26.0s W Canvassed by: Lucille Glenn in November 1996. Directions: from Durham travel on Hwy. 501 north toward Roxboro, turn left onto Flat River Church Rd., go about 1/2 mile to cemetery at Bessie Daniel Rd. Notes: The church was organized in 1750 and the present building was built in 1948. The cemetery was formed in 1950. Total burials listed = 92. Allen Dew kindly provided this survey for posting here. Location: Across from the house at 2949 Rolling Hills Road (SR 1166 ) Directions: Rolling Hills Road connects Hesters Store Road (SR 1162 ) to Leasburg Road (158W) Access: Near the road. This cemetery was recently cleared (2006). The cemetery is located in a field, 500 ft from road, in small stand of trees. Survey: Aug 2004 by Ken Dalton and Becky Farlow GPS: 36 20 38.4 N 079 05 28.1 W Graves: This cemetery contains ten graves total; six are marked by fieldstones. 1. Addison C / FOUSHEE / Born / Jan 10, 1835 / Died / Sept 16, 1855 / 4. James R / FOUSHEE / Born / Jun 2, 1828 / Died / July 3, 1855 / (fs) JRF / Information for researchers: A C Foushee was Adnah Campbell Foushee. He and Francis were the parents of eleven children including Alexander Rountree Foushee - author of "Reminiscences, A Sketch and Letters, Descriptive of Life in Person County in Former Days. 1921" - and Haywood D'Arcy Foushee. Additional information about the family and a list of the eleven children can be found in article #490, "Adnah Campbell Foushee," The Heritage of Person County, Volume I. That article provides this information about the third and fourth graves in this cemetery: James Foushee, oldest son, died in 1855 at twenty-eight years of age. He had contracted typhoid fever. He did not marry. Addison Foushee, second son of Adnah Campbell Foushee, died also in 1855, a victim of typhoid fever. He was not married. |
