This Indenture made the 7th day of November 1787 between JAMES LEWIS of the one part & JOAB GLOVER, DANIEL GLOVER, ROBERT GLOVER & DAVID GLOVER all of the County of Granville of the other part Whereas JOSEPH GLOVER by his last Will & Testament duly proved in Granville County Court did bequeath part of the land he died possessed of to his son JOAB to contain Two Hundred acres & did also give & bequeath the land whereon he lived to his three sons DANIEL, ROBERT & DAVID after the death of the Widow & whereas the s'd JOAB GLOVER hath bargained sold & delivered unto the s'd JAMES LEWIS the land so divided to him on which he now lives for the consideration of Two Hundred pounds Virginia currency the s'd DANIEL, ROBERT & DAVID have bargained sold & delivered unto the s'd JAMES LEWIS Three acres of land adjoining the aforesaid land devised to them by their father as aforesaid for the consideration of three pounds Virginia currency Now this Indenture witnesseth that the s'd JOAB GLOVER, DANIEL GLOVER, ROBERT GLOVER & DAVID GLOVER for & in consideration of the aforesaid One Hundred & three pounds to them in hand, paid by the s'd JAMES LEWIS the rec't whereof they do hereby acknowledge have bargained & sold the aforesaid Two Hundred & three acres lying in Granville County on both sides Little Island Creek & bounded as followeth begining at a white oak MRS. MARSHALL's corner runing west Seventy six pole to a whit oak then North ninety seven pole to a white oak then west one hundred & ninety two pole crossing the creek to two pines & a red oak then South One hundred & fifty two poles to a pointers then east One hundred & ninety pole to a branch MRS. MARSHALL's line then down the s'd branch six pole to the mouth of the Haw branch then up the s'd Haw branch and along MRS. MARSHALL's line to the first station To have & to hold all the aforesaid tract of land be the same more or less to him the s'd JAMES his heirs & assigns forever & the s'd JOAB, DANIEL, ROBERT & DAVID do covenant for themselves & their heirs to & with the s'd JAMES LEWIS his heirs & assigns that he the s'd JAMES his heirs & assigns shall at all times hereafter peaceably & quietly have hold use occupy possess & enjoy all the aforesaid land with the appurtenances thereon without the hinderance or interuption of all manner of persons & that they the s'd ROBERT, JOAB, DANIEL & DAVID will warrant & forever defend the aforesaid tract of land to him the s'd JAMES his heirs & assigns against the claim of any person whatsoever In witness whereof the s'd JOAB, DANIEL, ROBERT & DAVID have hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.

AMOS GOOCH to WILLIAM EVANS-1818

Know all men by these presents that I AMOS GOOCH of Granville County & State of No. Carolina having taken a Deed in Trust on the land of ISAAC ANDERSON bearing date the 10th November 1815 I do hereby relinquish all my right and title to a part of the said tract lying in said County in the waters of Cat Tail- Beginning at a post oak in ROBERT REED's line thence West 124 poles to a pine JOHNSONS' corner thence North 65 poles to a hickory thence E to said ISAAC ANDERSONs line thence to the Beginning containing 50 acres unto WILLIAM EVANS for value received of him. Given under my hand and seal this the 14th day of March 1818.

JOSEPH H. GOOCH to WILLIAM EVANS-1843

State of North Carolina
Whereas by a writ of venditioni exponas directed to the sheriff of the County of which said writ was issued from the County Court for the County of Granville in the State aforesaid and bears test from May Court 1843 and was returnable to the next succeeding term of said Court, the said shff was commanded to sell the lands and tenements hereinafter described, which said lands and tenements had been before that time by the sheriff taken in execution as the property of HENRY ANDERSON, to the highest bidder for ready money to satisfy and pay to Webb & Allen & WM. EVANS the Plaintiffs in said writs the sum of Sixty Seven Dollars & 89 cents for debt besides the further sum of $3.70 for cost which he had recovered in said court by judgment thereof against HENRY ANDERSON the defendant in said writ issued and directed to him as aforesaid and in execution thereof the said sheriff did on this 7th day of August A.D. 1843 expose the said lands and tenements at Public sale before the Courthouse door to the highest bidder for ready money, he having first duly advertised the said sale for 40 days and in other respects as the law requires and did sell the same as the property and estate of HENRY ANDERSON unto WILLIAM EVANS who was then and there the last and highest bidder for the sum and price of Sixty dollars and did make return thereof to the Court aforesaid as endorsed on the said writ of venditioni exponas.
Now therefore this indenture made and indented at the County of Granville aforesaid by and between JOSEPH H. GOOCH, High Sheriff of the said County of the one part and WM. EVANS of Granville County of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and in further consideration of the sum of Sixty dollars to him in hand paid according to the bid herein before recited in pursuance of the duty imposed and the authority in him vested [bottom of line cut off] and the said writ and his office as High sheriff aforesaid the said party of the first part Sheriff as aforesaid hath given granted bargained and sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents he doth give, grant, bargain, and sell alien and convey, unto the said WILLIAM EVANS the party of the second part and his heirs and assigns forever the tract of land situate, lying and being in Granville aforesaid which contains by estimation sixty acres more or less and is bounded thus, to wit, adjoining the lands of AMOS CRUTCHER, W. EVANS and others on the waters of Cattail Creek. To have and to hold the aforesaid lands and tenements with their appertenances to W. EVANS the said party of the second part and his heirs forever in as full and ample manner as by law and in virtue of the premises the said party of the first part can convey the same . In testimony of all which the said JOS. H. GOOCH, High Shff, of the County of Granville aforesaid hath hereto set his hand and affixed his seal this 14th day of August A.D. 1843.

JAMES & MARY GUY to JAMES M. HEGGIE- 1840

This Indenture made and entered into this 15th day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Forty between JAMES GUY and MARY GUY of the first part, JAMES M. HEGGIE of the second part and HOWELL SATTERWHITE of the third part, all of the State of North Carolina, Granville County. Witnesseth that whereas the said JAMES and MARY GUY stand justly indebted to the said HOWELL SATTERWHTE in the sum of Thirty Seven dollars as by this instrument doth appear with interest from this date, which they the said JAMES & MARY GUY honestly desire to secure and pay. In consideration thereof and in further consideration of the sum of fifty cents, to them in hand paid by the said HEGGIE before the securing sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said JAMES and MARY GUY doth hereby acknowledge, the said JAMES and MARY GUY do for themselves their heirs and assignees grant, bargain, sell and deliver, and by these presents hath granted, sold and delivered to the said HEGGIE his heirs and assigns forever, for purposes hereinafter mentioned, one tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Granville and State aforesaid containing by estimation sixty acres be the same more or less and bounded by the lands of HOWELL SATTERWHTE, WILLIAM WILSON, WILLIAM HARGROVE, and the heirs of WILLIAM LITTLE ana on which the said JAMES and MARY GUY now live and reside to have and to hold the above described lands, and every part thereof with all the wrights and priviledges thereunto belonging free and clear from the lawful claim or claims of any person whatsoever. In trust nevertheless, that the said HEGGIE or his heirsshall and may at any time after the first day of May next ensuing sell the right and property to the highest bidder for ready money at such time and place as he the said HEGGIE or his heirs may think propper, first giving ten days notice of the time and place of sale by publick advertisement and the money arising from such sale to apply to the discharge of the aforesaid debt of thirty seven dollars due and owing to the said HOWELL SATTERWHITE or so much thereof as may then remain due and unpaid, and also the interest thereon together with the costs of advertising, recording this instrument, and all other costs accruing by reason of these presents, and to make and execute a conveyance to the purchaser thereof, and the balance if any to be paid to the said JAMES and MARY GUY their heirs or assigns. In witness whereof we the above named have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year first written 16th April 1840.
