This picture was enlarged from a newspaper photograph of the Red Cross nurses in Salisbury, NC at the train station-- meeting the soldiers returning from WWI on Christmas Day, 1918. Pat died 8 days later of Spanish flu. The watch around her neck is an Elgin manufactured in 1898 and is now in possession of her great- niece, Gayle Sharpe Drury, who also has the European-cut 1-carat diamond from her engagement ring. Both were given to Patsy Ruth Morgan Sharpe by her uncle, Wills Norman. Patsy was his wife, Pat's namesake. At Patsy's death, she left them to her daughter, Gayle.
