Land Patent to Major Henry Bonner

113 acres Chowan Precinct

 

His Excelly John Lord Carteret Palatine & the Rest of the true & absolute Lords PropRs. of Carolina.   To all  whom these presents shall come Greeting in our Lord God Everlasting Know ye that We the said Lords & Absolute propRs.  according to our Great Deed of Grant bearing date the first day of May Anno Dom 1668: given to our County of Albemarle under our hands & Great Seale of our said Province do hereby Give & Grant unto Major Henry Bonner of said County a Tract of Land containing One hundred and Thirteen Acres lying in Chowan Precinct: at the head of Mattchecomack Creek begining at the side of the Swamp Runing up the sd. Bonners line E.S.E 320 pole to a White Oak then S. 52W.54 pole to a Saplin pine in John Jones head Line then along his Line S.S.W. 10 pole to a Pine then W.N.W. 320 pole to the Swamp thence to the first station

    To have & to hold the said Land with all rights & priviledges of hunting Hawking fishing & Fowling with all Woods Waters & Rivers with all profits Comoditys & Hereditaments to the Same belonging or appertaining (Excepting one half of all Gold & Silver Mines) unto him the said Henry Bonner his heirs & assignes for Ever in as large & ample manner to all Intents & Purposes as in & by the said Deed is granted or Intented Yielding & paying unto us our heirs & SuccessoRs: Yearly every twenty ninth day of September the fee rent of one Shilling for every fifty acres hereby granted to be holden of us our heirs & Successors in free & Comon Soccage provided that if the said Henry Bonner shall not Seat & Plant or Cause to be Seated & planted thereon within three Years after the date hereof then this Patent to be Void otherwise to stand & be of full force. Given under the Seale of the Colony the 29th day of Janry. Anno Dom: 1730.  Wittness our Trusty and Wellbeloved Sir Richard Everhard Barrt.
