AUSBON, W. Fletcher – The M.E. Church of this town was crowded to its utmost capacity on Sunday night last, the occasion being the marriage of Mr. W. BLOUNT, H.A. – Married. At the residence of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Annie WALKER, on Third street, Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock, Mr. H.A. BLOUNT, one of Plymouth’s most popular young men, to Miss Sallie LAYTON, formerly of Bridgville, Del., but who, for the past year, has added much to the social circle of Plymouth by her charming presence.  The marriage was very quiet; only a few of the relatives and friends of the contracting parties being present. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C.W. ROBINSON, of the M.E. Church, in a most solemn manner.  We extend to the two happy lives that are made one, our congratulations and best wishes for a long, happy and prosperous journey through life. HOWARD, Chas. P. – Again on Wednesday night at 7:15 o’clock a large number of our people gathered within the historic old walls of Grace Church to witness another marriage ceremony.  This time the contracting parties were Mr. Chas P. HOWARD, of Portsmouth, Va., and Miss Sallie PEARCE, of this city. As the musical chime of the old bell rung out upon the bustling town at 7:30 the bridal party marched up to the chancel and in a solemn manner they were pronounced man and wife, by the Rector, Rev. Luther EBORN.  Messrs. Clarence LATAHM and Louis HORNTHAL acted as ushers.  The bride was given away by Mr. Clarence LATHAM.  The happy couple repaired to the residence of Mr. E.R. LATHAM, the former home of the bride.  The groom has accepted a position in the painting department of the “Old Reliable” Carriage Factory,  and will make this his future home.  We extend to him a hearty welcome among us and congratulations to him and his fair bride, wishing them much happiness and prosperity. JOHNSTON, S.L. (Captain) – MARRIED. At the residence of Mr. J.P. HILLIARD on Thursday night of last week, Capt. S.L. JOHNSTON and Miss Margie GARRETT, both of this town, Mr. T.S. ARMISTEAD, J.P. officiating.  The happy couple left Saturday for Bath, where they will make their home for the present, the Captain having accepted a position as principal of a school in that town.  Miss GARRET was one of our most accomplished young ladies, a daughter of the late Maj. GARRETT, and Capt. LEARY, H.M.D. – From the Creswell Letter column (dated February 11, 1890): On Wednesday night last Justice HOWELL was unexpectedly called upon to marry Mr. H.M.D. LEARY, of Holly Neck, and Miss Sadie CLIFTON, daughter of J.A. CLIFTON, of this neighborhood.  The ceremony was performed in his office, and immediately afterwards the happy couple left for Holly Neck. MOORE, Wm. – On Sunday, May 25th quite a number were at Christian Hope to witness the marriage of Miss Mary CAHOON and Wm. MOORE, of Martin county.  The ceremony was performed by Mr. H.S. GURGANOUS with all due solemnity, after which Mr. and Mrs. MOORE received the congratulations of their friends and accompanied by a gay procession of young attendants, repaired to their home.  We wish for them a long life and every happiness. OVERTON, formerly of this town, but who now holds a position with the Beaufort County Lumber Col., to Miss May CHILCOAT, who added so much to the social circle of Plymouth during the summer of ’88.  The happy couple arrived here on Monday evening and remained at the Latham House until Tuesday morning, when they left for their future home at the mills of the B.C.L. SPRUILL, W.T. – Marriage Bells – Just as the soft shades of twilight were falling around the historic old town on Wednesday evening, the stillness was suddenly broken by the merry chimes was suddenly broken by the merry chimes of the bell as it rang out from the lofty steeple of old Grace church, upon the still moonlit night, giving the call to the multitude of friends of Mr. W.T. SPRUILL and Miss Alice HILLIARD, to gather and witness them, as happy a couple as ever bowed at Hymens altar, joined in the holy bonds of matrimony.  The groom is one of the most successful young farmers of the county and the bride one of the most attractive young ladies of the town and a daughter of our worthy Register of Deeds, Mr. J.P. HILLIARD.  The ceremony was performed at 6:30 o’clock by the Rector Rev. Luther EBORNE. The bride entered from the western door leaning upon the arm of her father.  The groom entered from the eastern door attended by Mr. L.L. NEWBERRY and as the solemn wedding march drifted out upon the still moonlight night they marched up to the chancel where they were, in the most solemn manner, pronounced man and wife.  The bride was attired in a beautiful costume of blue silk. Immediately after the ceremony the happy couple, accompanied by a number of friends, left for the home of the groom at Lee’s Mills where a reception was given.  The Beacon extends to the happy couple congratulations and best wishes for a long and prosperous life. SPRUILL, Zeph D. – Mr. Zeph D. SPRUILL, of our place, took unto himself a “better half” in the person of Miss Jane PHELPS, daughter of Mr. Henderson PHELPS, (who lives near here), on Wednesday evening last, Justice MERCER, officiating.  It was his (said J.P.) first case of the kind; we hear that he made them an and wife in good order, as though he was an expert at the business instead of a novice as he was. WATSON, A.A. (Rev.) – The Rt. Rev. A.A. WATSTON, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of East Carolina was married in St. James Church, Wilmington, on Saturday morning June 28 at 8:30 o’clock to Miss Mary C. WHITE, Warren W. – MARRIED – At the residence of Mr. J.W. BLOUNT near Mackey’s Ferry, yesterday afternoon at 3:15 o’clock, Mr. Warren W. WHITE of this place to Miss Lizzie LONG, of Mackey’s Ferry.  Rev. C.W. ROBINSON performed the ceremony in his usual solemn but grand style.  Immediately after the marriage the happy couple left for this town where they arrived at the groom’s residence on Jefferson street at 5 o’clock and were welcomed by a few invited guests.
