Death of Thomas Bostick
Contributed by Mr. Carol McLean   April 20, 2006
From the Fayetteville Observer, Wednesday Morning, July 29, 1840

Died in Richmond County, in the 6th year of his age. Thomas Bostick, son of Mr. Elijah Bostick.
Among the many sad accidents to which the press daily directs christian sympathy, it records few
perhaps more touching than the death of this once promising child. The deceased was playing with
his younger sisters about the yard, where he got a fall, from which he received an injury, which
confined him to his bed nine weeks; during which time, he was not able to walk or sit, except once
he walked a few steps, but not without assistance, and continued growing weaker and weaker until
the morning of the 21st instant, when his young spirit was called, and took its flight to its kindred
abode. A never dying plant removed from an ungenial clime, there to flourish and bear fruit forever
in the Paradise of God. Time how short, Eternity how long.
