A Bill of Sale made March 2nd day 1804
Know all men by these presents that I NATHAN SCOGGIN of Person County & State of North Carolina for & in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred pounds current money of the afor'd State to me in hand paid by PHILLIP HALL SEN'R of the sd County & State as security for my Executorship for the Orphans of WELDIN LEWIS at & before the insealing & delivery of these presents wherewith I confess myself to be fully satisfyd, contented & paid I have bargained & sold & by these presents do fully clearly & absolutely bargain & sell unto the said PHILLIP HALL in plain & open market in the County of Person one tract of land lying & being in the County of Person & state aforesaid containing by estimation one Hundred & five acres being the tract formerly belonging to ABRAHAM VITTINES also one mare about ten years old of a dark bay colour branded with S & one bright bay coalt near three years old, two grown cows, one pead, one pale brindel, five young cattle also three beds & furniture & steads, two chests, one cubbard, two cotton wheels & two flax wheels, one till & one side saddle & one man's saddle, one table, also Eleven head hogs marked half crop in the right ear, smooth crop & slit in the left also three pots & a oven two pewter dishes, seven pewter plates, four pewter basons to have & to hold the said goods & property all & singular to the said PHILLIP HALL his heirs Executors &c to his & their own proper use & behoof forever & I the said NATHAN SCOGGIN my heirs Executors &c against all people doth warrant & defend by these presents. The conditions of this obligation is such that if the said NATHAN SCOGGIN his Heirs, Exect'rs &c shall truly pay or cause to paid unto the said PHILLIP HALL his heirs, Exect'rs &c the above mentioned same then is to be void and of none effect otherwise to remain in full virtue & force in Law.
