Orphan of JOHN REDD, 1796

 

State of North Carolina
Know all men by these presents, That we, JOHN SNEED, LEMUEL SNEED & JAMES RIMMER are held and firmly bound unto BEN DOUGLASS & JAMES COCHRAN Esquires, and the rest of the Justices assigned to keep the peace for Person County, in the just and full sum of two hundred & fifty pounds, currency money of the said State, to be paid to the said Justices their heirs, executors, administrators or assigns: To the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and every of us our and each of our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 5th day of December Anno Dom. 1796.
Whereas the above bounden JOHN SNEED hath been this day, by the worshipful court of said county, appointed Guardian to NANCY GARNET REDD orphan of JOHN REDD deceased; Now the condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said JOHN SNEED Guardian as aforesaid, shall well and truly discharge his said guardianship, by taking care of and improving all the estate belonging to the said orphan; and shall also settle his guardianship accounts with the court of said county, as is required by law; and that he will deliver up to the said NANCY G. REDD orphan as aforesaid, when he shall attain lawful age, all such estate as he ought of right to be possessed of, or sooner if required, agreeable to the true intent and meaning of the act of the General Assembly in such case made and provided; then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

State of Kentucky, Mercer County, To Wit,

At a County Court held for said County at the Courthouse on Monday the 25th day of January 1801.
RACHEL DINWIDDIE was by the Court appointed Guardian to WILLIAM and ELIZABETH DINWIDDIE Orphans of JOHN DINWIDDIE Deceased who together with BENJAMIN NEWTON her security entered into and acknowledged this bond in the penalty of six hundred pounds conditioned as the law directs. In Testimony whereof I THOMAS ALLEN Clerk to the said Court have here unto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of the said County this 11th day of March 1801.

CARY WILLIAMS, JAMES COCHRAN, SAMUEL SMITH, & WILLIAM DUTY of Person County filed a bond with JAMES WILSON & JOHN SNEED, Esquires and the rest of the Justices of the County Court of pleas and Quarter Sessions for the sum of Five Hundred pounds in trust for the benefit of the tuition of CHARLES HATCHER, aged 15, minor orphan for whom CARY WILLIAMS is appointed Guardian.
