If you have transcribed files you wish to submit to the Plantations of North
Carolina website, please include the following:
- Be aware that there must be more than just a Plantation name.
Some older files on the site were grandfathered in without
information, and those kind are no longer accepted.
- Must contain a Plantation or Family Name and a Location which
at least gives the town or city it was in or near.
- What do you know about the Family who owned the plantation? A
Family History is best, giving the names of the head of family, the
spouse and their children, at the very least.
- A listing of the Names of the enslaved on that plantation.
- What was the Source of this information? For a Will or
Estate, identifiable info such as the Will Book Number & Page; if
other Source, state what it is.
- If you have a photo of the plantation, that would be great,
too.
- A document written up in Word or Text form, containing all of
the above, and any other additional information you may wish
to add.
- Email the written document and other information you may have
to
this address.
