US Pension Record: Sept. 4, 1882 - Declaration for Original Invalid Pension Levin B. Whedbee, age 47 & resident of Hatteras, states that he enrolled June 15, 1863 in Co. I, 1st Regt. Commanded by Capt. Richard Allen and was honorably discharged at New Bern, NC about June 21, 1865; that he is 5'9" tall, has a light complexion, dark hair and light eyes; that he lost 10 pieces of bone from an ulcerated tooth and while building barracks cut his foot across the bottom and has been disabled ever since; that he is a fisherman.
Aug. 14, 1883 - War Dept. Levin B. Whidbee, private in Co. I, 1st Regt. of NC Volunteers was enrolled on June 18, 1863 at Hatteras Banks and is reported on the muster roll of said company to June 30, 1863. Present and so reported to April 30, 1865. He was mustered out with company on June 21, 1865 at New Bern, NC as a private. Reports show him Sept. 3, 1864 sent to hospital and the 17th returned to company from the hospital. May 25, 1865 sent to hospital. Cause of absence in hospital not stated. No evidence of alleged injuries on the regimental hospital records.
Feb. 26, 1907 - Declaration for Pension Levin B. Whidbee, age 72 & resident of Hatteras, states that at the time of his enlistment he was 5'9" tall, had a dark complexion, gray eyes and dark hair; that he was born March 5, 1835 at Hatteras and that his occupation was a pilot. Invalid Pension Filed: Sept. 16, 1882 & Mar. 1, 1907 (#666.764).

NC Pension Record: May 7, 1890 - Declaration for Original Invalid Pension Joseph M. Williams, age 54 & resident of Avon, NC, states that he was enrolled in the Spring of 1863 in Co. I, commanded by Captain R.J. Allen and Col. McChesney and he was honorably discharged at New Bern, NC in July (states June in other places) 1865; that at the time of his enlistment he was 5'7" tall, had a dark complexion, dark hair and hazel eyes; that while on duty at Hatteras, NC in the winter of 1865? he contracted sore eyes and became partially blind while doing guard duty and heavy duty. He then took a deep cold and pain in the head by being exposed to the cold weather and rain; that he was a fisherman by trade but now is ¾ disabled from obtaining a living. NC Pension Record: March 18, 1890-Physician's Exam This states that Joseph S. Williams, age 58, cannot make an intelligent statement; that he has had a sore leg ever since the war and for 4 years there has been a general loss of memory. Mentally he seems to be a complete imbecile. Away from home he needs an attendant. He has chronic eczema with ulcers involving ½ of his leg from knee to ankle joint. "H" and was honorably discharged at New Bern, NC on June 27, 1865; that when he enrolled he was 19 years old; was 5'7" tall and had a light complexion, brown hair and eyes; that he is wholly incapacitated from earning a living by reason of heart disease, rheumatism, nervousness and general disability.
