Mortally wounded at Hanover Court House. Present or accounted for until he died in hospital at Richmond, Virginia, June 10. 1862.

John Emory resided in Hyde County where he enlisted on September 9, 1861. Present or accounted for until captured at Hanover Court House, Virginia, May 27, 1862. Confined to Fort Columbus, New York Harbor. Paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James, River, Virginia, July 12, 1862, for exchange. Declared exchanged at Aiken's Landing on August 5, 1862. Returned to duty in November, 1862-February, 1863. Present or accounted for until wounded at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3, 1863. Company records indicate he was also captured at Gettysburg, however, records of the Federal Provost Marshal do not substantiate that report. Died prior to March 1, 1864. Place and cause of death not reported. Records of the Federal Provost Marshal dated May 1862 gives his age as 20.

Note: It is possible that Private John Emory was the illegitimate son of Clarissa Berry and John Emory (Hidden Ancestors, Page 8). In the 1850 census he was listed as John Berry, age 10, living with the Jerkin (Gherkin) family in the Swan Quarter district.  In 1860 at age 18 he again is listed as John Berry with the same family. A John Berry or John Emory of this age appears in no subsequent census.

William John Ensley resided in Hyde County where he enlisted on September 9, 1861. Present or accounted for through October, 1863. Returned to duty in January-February, 1864. Present or accounted for through February 1865.

First Sergeant William Thomas Farrow

William Thomas Farrow resided in Hyde County where he enlisted on September 9, 1861. Mustered in as Sergeant. Present or accounted for until captured at New Bern on March 14, 1862. Confined at Fort Columbus, New York Harbor. Paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where he was received on July 12, 1862, for exchange. Declared exchanged at Aiken's Landing on August 5, 1862. Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1862. Promoted to 1st Sergeant on July 1, 1864. Present or accounted for until he surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.

William Thomas Farrow, born on May 28, 1832 and died on June 11, 1908, was the son of Hezekiah Farrow and Eleanor Smaw. He married Ann Mariah Jennette. He is buried in the Farrow- Saunderson Cemetery, SR# 1114 near Hwy 264. His tombstone reads "Served in War 1861-1865"

Anson Gibbs resided in Hyde County where he enlisted on September 9, 1861. Present or accounted for until captured at or near Jericho Mills, Virginia,, on or about May 23, 1864. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, May 30, 1864. Paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where he was received on March 19, 1865, for exchange. Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia, with chronic diarrhea. Captured in hospital at Richmond on April 3, 1865. Transferred to Point Lookout on May 9, 1865. Released at Point Lookout on June 28, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Anson Gibbs was born on September 22, 1842 and died on December 28, 1908, son of Peleage Spencer Gibbs and Mahala Caroline Gibbs. He married in 1866 to Mary J. Gibbs, in 1877 to Mary McCallie Pugh, in 1884 to Mary Alice Spencer, and in 1889 to Mrs. Mary V. (Marshall) Watson. He was buried in the Amity Church Cemetery, Hwy. 264, Engelhard, N.C.

Company records indicate he was captured at New Bern on March 14, 1862; however, records of the Federal Provost Marshal do not substantiate that report. Reported absent without leave in January-February, 1863. Returned from absence without leave on September 1, 1863. Reported absent sick in November-December, 1863. Deserted in January, 1864. Returned to duty on September 18, 1864. Company records dated November, 1864-February 1865, indicate he was recommended for light duty by the Medical Examining Board.

David D. Gibbs was born circa 1830 and died before 1880. He married Mahala M. (___?___). Widow Mahala M. Gibbs applied for Confederate widow's pension in 1901.

Jabin Gibbs resided in Hyde County where he enlisted on September 9, 1861. Present or accounted for until wounded in the right hip at or near Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862. Reported absent wounded until August 12, 1864, when he was detailed for light duty in hospital at Raleigh. Reported absent on detail at Raleigh through February 1865.

Jabin Gibbs was born on January 16, 1840 and died on Augist 7, 1886, son of David Gibbs and Pembrook (___?___). He married Mrs. Fannie Sadler, then Sallie J. Spencer. He is buried in the Berry-Ewell-Gibbs Cemetery on SR# 1311 near the R. B. Ballances home. His widow, Sallie Gibbs Roper, applied for Confederate widows pension in 1938.

Joseph Benjamin Gibbs was born circa 1825, date of death unknown. He married Alice S. Gibbs, daughter of Carney Gibbs and Affa Spencer. She died in 1877. It is probable that David Doggett Gibbs of this Company was his brother. David was also in the household of Henderson Ballance in the 1850 Census.

Transferred at Fort Monroe, Virginia, on an unspecified date. Paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where he was received on October 22, 1862, for exchange. Declared exchanged at Aiken's Landing on November 10, 1862. Returned to duty in January-February, 1863. Present or accounted for until wounded in the foot and captured at Wilderness, Virginia, May 5-7, 1864. Paroled prior to July 1, 1864. Reported absent wounded in July-August, 1864. Returned to duty in September-October, 1864. Present or accounted for until he surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.

Robert Carson Gibbs was born on January 22, 1842 and died on June 15, 1918, son of Henry Tooley Gibbs and Joanna Gibbs. He married 1st Nancy Midyett, 2nd Matilda E. Davidson, and 3rd Mrs. Polly Ann Blake Cuthrell. He applied for Confederate pension in 1901, 1905, and 1908. Robert Carson Gibbs is buried in the Robert Carson Gibbs Cemetery, North Lake Road, SR# 1311 (Ridge Road). His tombstone reads "Co. F 33 Regiment N. C. Branches Brigade A.P. Hills Division, Stonewall Jackson Corps".

Samuel S. Gibbs was born on March 12, 1836 and died on June 24, 1915. He married in 1859 to Emmaline Miller Spencer. Samuel Gibbs is buried in Lake Landing Township; specific cemetery unknown; Ridge Road, SR# 1311.

Wilson Gibbs was born in 1839 and died before 1904, the son of Cornelius S. Gibbs and Esther (___?___). He married four time, to Patsey Meekins, Nancy Spencer, Priscilla Jane Daniels and Mary Martha Rose. He is buried in the Wilson Gibbs Cemetery, Hwy. # 264, 1/2 mile NE of Wapoppin Creek.
