FOLSOM, DAWSON

I have connections to the FOLSOM and DAWSON families that lived in Cumberland Co. in the early 1800s. Israel Folsom DAWSON, b. 19 June 1828 in Sampson Co., was the son of Burwell/Burrel DAWSON and Edith FOLSOM (daughter of Israel FOLSOM of Cumberland Co.) who had m. on 1 Apr 1823 in Cumberland Co. On the 1850 census of Cumberland Co., northern div., page 146, Israel F. DAWSON, is identified as a student living in the household of Margaret McLEAN, b. ca 1769 Scotland; in her household are Neil McLEAN, b. ca 1798 NC, Janet McLEAN, b. ca 1803 NC, and Nancy McLEAN, b. ca 1808 NC. Does anyone know anything about this family and if they might be related to either the DAWSON or FOLSOM families? The only DAWSON I find on the 1850 census in Cumberland Co., on p.17, is Sarah DAWSON, b. ca 1766 Scotland. Could Sarah DAWSON and Margaret McLEAN be related? Sarah DAWSON was head of household on the 1840 census of Cumberland Co.; I do not know who her husband had been. There was no DAWSON head of household in Cumberland Co. in 1830.
