LOCAL DESIGNATIONS
OF CONFEDERATE UNITS

The following, in five parts, represents the formal designation of local or universal naming conventions. The ability to find the official designation of such units as McCorkle's Battalion, Senior Reserves [Major Mathew L.; Organized Sep. 28, 1864, of four cos. of detailed men in counties of Lincoln and Catawba.], McCulloch's Avengers [Co. D, 52 Regt. N.C. Infantry] or Swindell's Co. Partisan Rangers [Capt. Edward S.; from Hyde County; Local Desig: Hyde Rangers.]. All know to Manarin are here. More have been discovered since 1960 but none that are historically significant.
