Robert Strange Tatum was born in 1866,
the son of Richard
W. Tatum and Catherine
"Kitty" Cain of the Turnbull Creek
region of Bladen County. He married Carrie Beard, the daughter of
David E. "Delphus" Beard and Katherine Lucinda Thaggard
on 9 April, 1893. Carrie was born in 1872. They had 2 children:
Robert Leo Tatum and Thelma Tatum.
