January Session 1788

Ordered that Joshua Swain be appointed guardian to William Young son of Hezekiah Young deceased and give bond 500 pounds Robert Davison & Stephen Swain Esqr. security.

April Session 1788

Zilpha Young widow of Hezekiah Young deceased exhibited a petition in court praying that her right of dower of her deceased husbands land might be layed off granted.

July Session 1788

Henry Norman Deputy Sheriff exhibits in court a return of a jury agreeable to an order of last court for laying out the right of dower of land belonging to the estate of Hezekah Young deceased for Zilpha Young widow of said deceased and return filed.

April Session 1789

Ordered that the clerk issue execution against Zilpha Young widow of Hezekiah Young deceased in favor of Edmund Blount Sheriff for remaining and attending the jury laying out her third of the land belonging to the said deceaseds estate.

Young, Hezekiah, 1788


Bond dated 10 Jan 1788 in the amount of five hundred pounds appoining Joshua Swain guardian to William Young a minor orphan, Robert Davison & Stephen Swain securities. Flyleaf says William Young is the orphan of Hez. Young.

Execution dated 8 Oct 1789 and issued 23 Nov 1789 against the goods & chattels, lands and tenements of Joshua Swain guardian of William Young for 24 pounds, 11 shillings & 1 pence in court costs in a suit of evictment against Jeremiah Bateman which he lost. A second execution was issued a year later.

Execution dated 9 Apr 1789 and issued 4 Jun 1789 against the goods & chattels, lands & tenements of Zilpha Young widow of Hezekiah Young deceased for costs of laying out her dower in her deceased husband's estate


Transcriber's Notes:

Hezekiah Young was the son of Joseph and Ann Young. See Joseph's will in 1772 for more information. The will indicates that Hezekiah and Zilpha also had a daughter named Margaret at the time of Joseph's death. This may be the Peggy Young who married Isaac Phelps on 9 Dec 1798.
