January Session 1823

Administration on the estate of William Wynne was committed to Wilson B. Hodges who entered into bond with approved security & quallified agreeable to law ordered that letters of administration issue thereon & that he proceed to sell the perishable estate of the said deceased & account for the same as the law directs.

April Session 1823

Ordered that John Norman Daniel N. Bateman and James Wood be appointed to lay off to Polly Wynne wife of William Wyne deceased one years provision for herself and family out of the estate of said deceased agreeable to act of assembly in such case made & provided & make report to next term.

Inventory & account sales of the perishable estate of William Wynne deceased to amount $97.68 was returned on oath & filed.

July Session 1823

Report of Mary Wynne widow of William Wynne deceased dower in the lands of the said William Wynne deceased was returned in open court by W. B. Hodges deputy sheriff & filed.

Report of years provision of Mary Wynne widow of William deceased was returned to court & filed.

Undated answer of Ann Eliza Wynne by her guardian Daniel N. Bateman who admits that the facts set forth in the petition of W. B. Hodges administrator of William Wynne are true except those relating to the amount of his debt, of which he knows nothing.

Petition March Term 1823 by Mary Wynne stating that her husband William Wynne died intestate some time in the month of November 1822 and prays an order for her year's provision to be set off for her and her family.

Petition March Term 1823 by Mary Wynne stating that her husband William Wynne died intestate some time in the month of November 1822 and prays an order for her dower to be set off.

Court order dated 31 Mar 1823 for the laying off to Mary Wynne widow of William Wyne deceased her dower in the lands of her husband. Jurors were Daniel N. Bateman, Jno. Marriner, Selathiel Spruill, Burton Hathaway, Joshua Spruill, Francis Overton, Wilson Lamb, Harmon Bateman, Zebulon Tarkenton, Joshua Spruill Senr., Henry Gibson & Wm. Craddock.

Laying off of the dower of Mary Wynne widow of Wm. Wynne of Ben deceased on 27 Jun 1823. Land was 100 acres on the west side of Scuppernong River. Fifty acres were allotted to Mary Wynne including the dwelling house commonly called the Benoni Hassel tract binding the lands of Joshua Spruill Senr., Burton Hathaway and the lands formerly owned by John Wynne (of Benj.) and lately conveyed to William Wynne deceased.

Undated bond in the amount of fifteen hundred dollars appointing Wilson B. Hodges administrator of the estate of William Wynne deceased, Benjamin Sykes & ? Phelps securities.

Petition July Term 1823 by Wilson B. Hodges stating that William Wynne died intestate and administration of his estate was granted to him, your petitioner, at the January Term of court. The personal property of William Wynne was insufficient to discharge the debts of the estate and a debt due to your petitioner by bond under seal to the amount of $250 plus interest from 27 Nov 1821 remains unpaid. Petitioner requests a court order to sell the 100 acre parcel of land which William Wynne purchased from John Wynne bounded on the north by Salathiel Spruill, on the south by John Marriner, east by Burton Hathaway and west by John Marriner. Further request a copy of this petition be served on Daniel N. Bateman guardian of Ann Eliza Wynne heir as aforesaid and a decree be entered up against the heir and execution issue against the estate of said William.
