July Session 1814

Ordered that Richd. Davis Esqr. have leave of administration on the estate of Benjn. Wynne deceased and have entered into bond in the sum of two thousand pounds Levi Bateman Esqr. & Joseph Ansley securities.

October Session 1814

The inventory of the estate of Benjn. Wynne deceased was returned to court by Richd. Davis administrator on oath ordered filed.

April Session 1816

Amount of sales of the estate of Benjamin Wynn deceased was returned into court by Richard Davis his administrator.

Ordered that Col. Jesse Alexander Sol. Hassell and James Hoskins be appointed to audite and settle the accounts of Richard Davis administrator of Benjamin Wynn deceased and make return to next - - -

October Session 1817

Ordered by the court that Col. Jesse Alexander James Hoskins and Enoch Hassell be appointed to audite and settle the estate of Benjamin Wynne deceased with Richard Davis his administrator and make return to next court.

January Session 1819

Ordered that Enoch Hassell Esqr. Silus Hassell & Robt. Webster be appointed to audite & settle the accounts of Benjn. Wynn deceased with the administrator Richd. Davis & make return to next term.

Wynne, Benjamin, 1813


Petition Jul Term 1813 by Rhoda Wynne widow of Benjamin Wynne stating that her husband died seized of a tract of land on which a mansion house and other buildings are located joining the properties of John Marriner, Burton Hathaway, James Hoskins, Levi Bateman & Selathiel Spruill and that her dower in this land has never been alotted to her. She requests that be done.

Summons dated 13 Jul 1813 and issued 21 Sep 1813 for John Wynne William Wynne Mary Wynne & Samuel Spruill to appear at next court to answer the charges in the petition by Rhoda Wynne.

Summons dated 11 Jul 1814 and issued 20 Aug 1814 directed to the sheriff of Washington County for John Marriner & Demsey Spruill to appear at the next session of the Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions to testify on behalf of William Wynne in a pending suit wherein Rhoda Wynne is the plaintiff and William Wynne is the defendant.

Bond dated 12 Jul 1814 in the amount of two thousand pounds appointing Richard Davis administrator of the estate of Benjamin Spruill deceased, Levi Bateman & Joseph Ansley Esqrs. securities.

There are also various documents dealing with the aftermath of the suit. William Wynne paid his debt but Peter Marriner did not and his right in some land was sold in 1829 to satisfy the debt. By this time Richard Davis administrator of Benjamin Wynne was deceased and Joseph Halsey was administrator of the estate of Richard Davis.
