Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


April Session 1818

Ordered that Joseph White have leave of administration on the estate of William White deceased & have entered into bond in the sum of five hundred pounds Bennet Armstrong & Tarte White securitys.

Ordered that Joseph White administrator of the estate of William White sell the estate of said deceased agreeable to law & make returns to next court.

Ordered that Timothy Jones Esqr. Charles Hoskins & William Liverman Senr. be appointed to lay off to Nancy White widdow of William White deceased one years provision agreeable to act of assembly & make return to next term.

July Session 1818

Joseph White administrator of William White deceased returned in court on oath the account of sales of said deceased at the same time returned the widows years allowance in said estate of William White deceased ordered filed.

January Session 1820

Tarte White was appointed guardian to William White orphan of William White deceased & entered into bond with approved securityordered that he receive the estate of the said orphan into his possession & account for the same as the law directs.

Ordered that John A. Patrick & Timothy Jones & David Clayton audite & settle the estate of William White deceased with Joseph White his administrator & make report to the next term.

April Session 1820

Report of auditors on the estate of William White deceased was returned ballance due the estate $393.97 1/2 & filed.

Account of the sale of the property of William White on 9 Feb 1818. Bond dated 13 Apr 1818 in the amount of 500 pounds appointing Joseph White administrator of the estate of William White deceased, Bennett Armstrong & Tarte White securities.

Laying off of her year's provision to Nancy White widow of William White deceased ordered at April Term 1818.

Bond dated 10 Jan 1820 in the amount of four hundred pounds appointing Tarte White guardian to William White orphan of Wm. White deceased, Joseph White & Thomas Sikes securities.

Petition October Term 1829 by William White an infant by his guardian Joseph White and by Joshua White who are tenants in common of a 50 acre tract of land joining Aden Meekins, Barny White, Bartlett Jones & William Liverman. William White is entitled to 2/3 of the land and Joshua White to 1/3 of the land. They request that the land be divided. Land was divided on 22 Dec 1829, William White receiving 30 acres and Joshua White receiving 15 acres.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of William White to Nancy Rogers on 2 Sep 1817, Jos. N. Hoskins security.

There is a Joshua White, age 44, in the 1850 census of Tyrrell County. Elizabeth White (9), Nancy White (4) & Joshua White (11 Mo) are in his household.

There is a William White, age 40, in the 1850 census of Tyrrell County. Susan White (27), Mary White (5) and Jesse White (2) are in his household.
