Summons dated 4 Jun 1830 for Litteberry Barfield to appear before a Justice of the Peace on 5 Jun 1830 at the house of Zebulon Tarkinton to answer unto Kinchen Taylor administrator of James Taylor deceased in a plea that he render unto him $71 which he unjustly detains from him to his damage $50.

Statement under oath by Little Berry Barfield that Caleb Dough is a material witness in this case and that he expects to prove by him that at the time of the date of the note on which the action is brought he was absent at sea with the said Dough more than two months and that James Taylor the plaintiff was not at sea with them and that he signed no note while at sea. He has not been able to summon said witness because of his residence at Powells Point.

Summons dated the fourth Monday in October 1830 and issued 12 Nov 1830 to the Sheriff of Currituck County for Caleb Dough to appear in court in Tyrrell County on the fourth Monday in January next and testify on behalf of Little Berry Barfield in a matter in which Kinchen Taylor administrator of James Taylor is plaintiff and Little Berry Barfield is defendant. Returned not found.

Warrant dated the fourth Monday in January 1831 and issued 3 Feb 1831 for Little Berry Barfield to be in court on the fourth Monday in April next to satisfy the sum of $113.50 which Kinchen Taylor administrator of James Taylor recovered against him in a suit brought against the said Little Berry Barfield. Judgement was $107.70 plus $71.00 interest from 26 Jan 1821 and $5.80 court costs.

Bail bond dated 5 Apr 1831 in the amount of $231.36 by Little Berry Barfield with James A. Spruill security guaranteeing his appearance at court on the fourth Monday in April next. Kinchen Taylor, administrator of James Taylor deceased has obtained an execution against Little Berry Barfield and Barfield is seeking the relief afforded insolvent debtors.
