Tarkenton, William, 1849
Bond dated 22 Jan 1849 in the amount of $1,000 appointing J. L. Jones administrator of the estate of William Tarkenton deceased, J. F. Davenport & Jonathan Basnight securities.
Petition January Term 1849 of Affy Tarkington, widow of Wm. Tarkington deceased, whose husband died recently possed of considerable property which has come into possession of Jordan L. Jones administrator. She is advised she is entitled to a year's provision out of this property for herself and her family and prays a court decree.
Laying off of the year's provisions for Affy Tarkington, widow of Wm. Tarkenton, on 23 Feb 1849.
Summons dated the 4th Monday in July 1850 for Penelope, Angeline, George, Mary E., Franklin & Prisscilla Tarkenton to appear in court on the 4th Monday in October next to answer the petition of J. L. Jones administrator of Wm. Tarkenton vs. Penelope Tarkenton et al.
Court order 13 June 1851 granting the petition at April Term 1851 of Jones administrator of Tarkenton vs. Tarkenton's heirs to sell the lands mentioned in the petition in order to pay the debts of the estate.
Petition April Term 1853 of Affy Tarkenton against Soloman Hassell who shows that she is widow and relict of William Tarkenton who died intestate in 1849 leaving her unprovided for. He died seized and possessed of a tract of land joining the heirs of William Walker Jr., James Cooper, Sally Mann and others and in which petitioner is entitled to dower. Petitioner further shows that this land has been sold by court order to Soloman Hassell. Petitioner prays process and that a writ of dower be issued.
