Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions
January Session 1842
Ordered that administration upon the estate of Jasper Tarkenton be granted to Thomas G. Tarkenton by his entering into bond of three thousand dollars with Thomas S. Hassell, John J. Alexander & Richard Davenport securities. Bond filed and the administrator qualified.

Tarkenton, Jasper, 1842
Bond dated 24 Jan 1842 in the amount of $3,000 appointing Thos. G. Tarkenton administrator of the estate of Jasper Tarkenton deceased, Jno. J. Alexander, Richd. Davenport & Thos. Hassell securities.
Petition April Term 1842 by Thomas G. Tarkinton, administrator of Jasper Tarkinton deceased who died in 1842 possessed of personal property, part of which has been sold by petitioner and the account of sale has been submitted to the court. The personal estate that remains unsold is one negro boy named Jordan and one silver watch and it is necessary that they be sold to make a distribution to the next of kin. Petitioner shows that Thomas G. Tarkinton, your petitioner, & John Tarkinton, an infant under 21 years of age, are brothers of the whole blood & James Forbes, an infant under the age of 21 years, is a brother of the half blood of the intestate; that Elizabeth, now the wife of James Forbes, is the mother and that Mary, the wife of N. A. Spruill, is the sister of the said intestate Jasper.
Bond dated 27 Apr 1842 in the amount of $3,000 appointing James Forbes guardian of John Tarkenton, Jno. J. Alexander & T. L. Hassell securities.
Sale of negro Jordan on 21 May 1842 at public auction. James Forbes was the highest bidder at $425.25

See the 1824 court minutes and estate papers of Joseph Tarkenton, who was the husband of Elizabeth before she married James Forbes.
Elizabeth Forbes is age 61 in the 1850 census of Tyrrell County, so she probably married circa 1810. There are several marriage bonds for man named Joseph Tarkenton but the only marriage close to 1810 is Joseph Tarkinton to Elizabeth Perisho on 2 Aug 1809, Joseph Wynn security.
