July Session 1807

Zebulon Tarkinton returned in open court on oath the inventory and account of sales of the estate of Joseph Tarkinton Senr. filed $701.74.

Ordered that Zebulon Tarkinton have leave of administration on the estate of Joseph Tarkinton Senr. deceased and hath given bond in the sum of three thousand pounds with James Hoskins and Jesse Spruill securities.

Susannah Tarkenton vs. the heirs of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. - petition for dower
In this suit James Hoskins is appointed guardian to defend the suit for the heirs of Joseph Tarkenton deceased no bond required by the court in the above case.

October Session 1807

Ordered that Zebulon Tarknton be appointed guardian to the orphans of Joseph Tarkinton Senr. to wit Penny Rhody Prescillar Polly Tarkinton also that the said Zebulon be appointed guardian to the heirs or orphans of Joseph Tarkinton Junr. deceased to wit Betsy Bathsheba Whiting William and hath given bond in the sum of five thousand pounds with Colo. Jesse Alexander and Jeremiah Wynne his securities.

December Session 1809

Ordered that Richard Wood Levi Batman Richard Davis and John Ansley Esqrs. be appointed to audite and settle the accounts of Joseph Tarkinton Senr. and Joseph Tarkinton Junr. with Zebulon Tarkinton.

July Session 1813

Ordered that James Hoskins Benjamin Spruill & Richard Wood Esqrs. audite and divide the estate of Joseph Tarkinton Senr. deceased and make return to next court.

October Session 1813

Ordered that James Hoskins Richd. Wood Benjn. Spruill & Joseph Ansley Esqr. or any three of them audite and settle the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. and make return to next term.

January Session 1814

The audited account of the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. deceased was returned to court in order to be filed.

July Sesion 1820

Zebulon Tarkenton returned in open court on oath the account sales for hire of negroes & rent of lands of the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. deceased for 12 years from the 1st January 1808 to 1st January 1820 & filed.

Administrator's bond dated 27 Jul 1807 in the amount of three thousand pounds in which Zebulon Tarkenton is appointed administrator of the estate of Joseph Tarkenton with James Hoskins and Jesse Spruill securities.

Petition in July Term 1807 by Susannah Tarkenton widow and relict of Joseph Tarkenton Senior who died 4 May last seized of two tracts of land, one of two hundred acres bounded by the lands of Joseph Tarkinton son of Joseph, Zebulon Tarkenton and Joseph Phelps and the other called the Cypress Swamp containing one hundred acres and bounded by Scuppernong River, Abram Smith and others. Petitioner requests that her part of said lands and her part of the personal estate be laid off.

Undated bond in the amount of two thousand dollars wherein William Davenport acknowledges receiving the legacy left his wife Polly Davenport in a deed of gift from her father from Zebulon Tarkenton administrator of the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. including a negro named George. The bond guarantees that William Davenport will refund his part of any future demands made upon the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr.. Samuel Spruill is security.

Bond dated July Term 1810 in the amount of two thousand dollars wherein John Bateman acknowledges receiving the legacy left his wife Penny Tarkinton in a deed of gift from her father from Zebulon Tarkenton administrator of the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. including a negro named Toney. The bond guarantees that John Bateman will refund his part of any future demands made upon the estate of Joseph Tarkenton Senr.. H. Spruill and Daniel Bateman are securities.

Summons dated 27 Sep 1807 and issued 29 Sep 1807 for Bethia Bateman and Nancy Ambrose to appear in court and testify on behalf of Susannah Tarkenton in a suit in which Susannah Tarkenton is plaintiff and Penny Rhody Priscilla & Polly Tarkenton are defendants.

Guardian bond dated 27 Oct 1807 in the amount of five thousand pounds in which Zebulon Tarkenton is appointed guardian to Priscilla Penny Rodah & Polly Tarkenton orphans of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. with Jesse Alexander & Jeremiah Wynne securities.

Execution dated 27 Sep 1810 and issued 5 Oct 1810 against the goods and chattels of John Tarkenton son of Joseph Tarkenton Senr. deceased in the amount of 6 pounds for debt recovered in a suit by Charles Spruill.

Bond dated 25 Feb 1823 in the amount of one thousand pounds between Zebulon Tarkenton and Nathan A. Phelps in which they appoint Snead B. Carraway James Wood and Wilson B. Hodges to settle the accounts between them as relate to the estate of Joseph Tarkenton deceased and Zebulon Tarkenton and Nathan A. Phelps bind themselves to abide by the decisions of the aforesaid persons.
