Bond dated 25 Oct 1847 in the amount of $8,000 appointing Isaac Casey administrator of the estate of Jos. T. Sawyer deceased, Chas. McClees & Jos. Alexander securities.

Petition of Isaac Casey in 1847 who shows that Joseph Sawyer died intestate recently and he administered upon the estate at the present term. It is necessary to sell all the personal estate except the slaves to pay the debts of the estate and he prays a court order.

Petition October Term 1847 of Elizabeth Sawyer, widow of Joseph T. Sawyer who died recently possessed of considerable personal property of which Isaac Casey is appointed administrator and out of which she is advised she is entitled to a year's allowance for herself, one child and necessary servants. She prays the necessary orders.

Laying off of the year's allowance for Elizabeth Sawyer, widow of Jos. T. Sawyer, on 15 Nov 1847 by Saml. Rogers J. P. and Jos. Alexander & Richard Davenport. Allowed $300 for provisions not on hand fer herself, child and [?].

Petition October Term 1848 of Isaac Casey, administrator of Jos. T. Sawyer deceased, who shows that he is possessed of three negro slaves, the property of the said Joseph T. Sawyer, whose names are Rachel, Lucy & Elizabeth and that is necessary to sell them in order to pay the debts of the estate. He prays an order for sale of said negros.

Bond dated 23 Apr 1850 in the amount of $300 appointing Joshua T. McCoy guardian to William Sawyer orphan of Jos. T. Sawyer deceased, Benj. T. Sikes & S. H. Sample securities.

Petition April Term 1850 of Joshua McCoy, administrator of Elizabeth McCoy and guardian of William Sawyer, distributee of Jos. T. Sawyer, against Isaac Casey, administrator of Jos. T. Sawyer deceased. Petitioners have repeatedly urged Isaac Casey to pay over their shares of the estate of Jos. T. Sawyer to no avail. They pray a court order for accounting and settlement of the estate.

Account of Isaac Casey, administrator of the estate of Joseph T. Sawyer, as of 30 Oct 1851. Audited by Saml. McCleese who finds a balance due the administrator of $1,873.34.

Summons issued 12 Jan 1858 to the Sheriff of Pasquotank County for Joshua T. McCoy having been appointed guardian to William Sawyer at April Term 1850 and failing to make returns or renew his bond to appear at court on the 4th Monday in January next and render an account of his guardianship.

The 1850 Census of Tyrrell County shows Joshua McCoy (26), a coachmaker, in the household of Thomas Cartright.

The 1850 Census of Tyrrell County shows the household of William Dunn (47), Ellen Dunn (42), Samuel J. Dunn (22), Martha Dunn (18), Franklin Swain (24), William C. Sawyer (4) and Feribbee Bryan (28). The 1860 Census of Tyrrell County shows William Sawyer (14) in the household of Romulus B. Knight (39) and Matilda Knight (40). Matilda's maiden name was Dunn.

The estate record of Elizabeth McCoy shows Joshua McCoy being appointed administrator in January 1850.
