Saunders, Sarah, 1846
Bond at April Term 1846 in the amount of $400 appointing John A. Brickhouse guardian to Richard & Wm. Sanders, children of Josiah Sanders, Jos. Owens & Jonathan Tweedy securities. Richard & Wm. Sanders is crossed through and Josiah & Sarah Sanders substituted.
Petition October Term 1851 of Ephraim Harris of Pasquotank County who states that he is tenant in common with Richard & William Saunders, infants under the guardianship of John A. Brickhouse, in a negro man named Cooper and a negro woman named Viney who were once the property of Sarah Saunders deceased. Petitioner is entitled to 1/3rd of said negros in right of a purchase he made from one Thom. Pritchard, legatee along with the said infants. He prays division of said negros between himself and said infants.
Answer January Term 1852 of John A. Brickhouse to the petition of Ephraim Harris. He admits to the petition and submits to division of the slaves.

Petition July Term 1853 of Josiah Saunders & Sarah Saunders by their guardian, W. W. Griffin who shows that Sarah Saunders departed this life in Tyrrell County and Jno. Saunderson duly administered upon her estate and reduced into his possession assets of a large and unknown amount to your petitioners, but which he supposes of $1,000 and upward. Petitioner further shows that they are the heirs at law and next of kin of said Sarah and as such are entitled to distribution of her personal property after payment of debts. They further show that the debts have been paid and the administrator is ready to distribute said property and in proof they are entitled they therefore pray and account and decree for what they are due.
The amended petition at October Term 1854 of Josiah Saunders & Sarah Saunders, infants of tender years, by their guardian W. W. Griffin who show that in July Term 1853 they filed a petition against Jno. Saunderson wherein the alleged that Sarah Sunders departed this life at her domicile in Tyrrell County and that Jno. Saunderson administered upon her estate reducing into his possession assets of a large amount which they suppose amounted to $1.000 and upward. Petitioners are the heirs at law and next of kin of said Sarah and as such are entitled to distribution of all her personal property after payment of debts. All the debts have been paid and the administrator was ready to pay over said property under decree of the court on proof they are entitled. Petitioners show new facts that one John A. Brickhouse had formerly been appointed their guardian by the full court. He received into his possession monies, property and slaves and hired the slaves out making large sums of money with the estate amounting to $1,000 or some such large amount. Subsequent thereto said Brickhouse departed this life intestate in Tyrrell County without having given petitioners their property, rights in credit, slave hires and rent. Thereupon administration was granted to Jno. Saunderson, defendant herein, who took into hes possession all the property rights, credits, effects etc. of petitioners and a large anount of personal assets of his intestate. They further show that after his death one W. W. Griffin became their guardian and through him they have frequently demanded a settlement and delivery of all their respective property rights, credits & effects including slaves and a general settlement of accounts. Said Saunderson has neglected to do so alleging that he did not intend to without the order and decree of this court. Petitioners pray a decree that defendant account and deliver and pay over to them through said Griffin what of right he ought to deliver.
