Petition January Term 1848 of Anne Pledger showing that James I. Pledger died about the first December last leaving her unprovided for by law. She prays her year's allowance be alloted to her.

Bond dated 24 Jan 1848 in the amount of $4,000 appointing John Pledger administrator of the estate of James I. Pledger deceased, John McClees & B. Spruill securities.

Bond dated 21 Apr 1850 in the amount of $6,000 appointing James A. Pledger guardian to Charlott, Nancy, Bedford, Abraham, Joseph & James Pledger heirs of James I. Pledger deceased, Trimagan Sanderlin, Saml. McClees, Lewis Pledger & Henry McClees securities.

Bond dated 23 Jan 1854 in the amount of $10,000 appointing James A Pledger guardian to Nancy Pledger, Bedford B. Pledger, Abraham Pledger, Joseph Pledger & James W. Pledger, minor or orphans, Jesse Sanderson, John McClees & William Basnight securities.

The 1850 census of Tyrrell County shows the household of Anna Pledger (41), John Pledger (23), Charlotte Pledger (18), Nancy Pledger (16), Bedford B. Pledger (11), Abram Pledger (8), Joseph Pledger (6) & James W. Pledger (2).

See the 1839 will and 1842 estate papers of John Combs Senr. Anna is cited as his daughter and James I. is cited as his son in law.
