Bond dated 26 Apr 1847 in the amount of $10,000 appointing Benjamin Spruill administrator of the estate of T. B. Midyett deceased, Jesse McClees & Jos. Owens securities.
Petition April Term 1847 of Ann Midyett who shows that her husband, Thomas B. Midyett, died since the last term leaving considerable personal and perishable property out of which she is advised she is entitled to a year's allowance for herself and family. Benjamin Spruill was appointed administrator of the estate of her deceased husband at the current term. She prays an order for the laying off of her year's allowance.

Bond dated 24 Jul 1848 in the amount of $8,000 appointing Henry McClees guardian to Harriet Elizabeth Midyett orphan, Charles McClees & Saml. A. Truitt securities.
Petition October Term 1848 of Henry McClees and wife Ann and Harriet Midyett by her next friend and guardian Henry McClees and Ann Elizabeth Midyett by her next friend and guardian Benjamin Spruill who show that they are tenants in common of about 14 negro slaves which they inherited by the death of Thomas B. Midyett. Petitioners want a division of said negros and pray an order to that effect.

Petition April Term 1849 of Henry McClees and wife, Ann, against Ann Midyett & Harriet E. Midyett infant heirs at law of Thomas B. Midyett. Petitioners show that Thomas B. Midyett died about April 1847 leaving your petitioner, Ann, unprovided for by law. The said Thomas B. Midyett died seized and possessed of a tract of land bounded by Benj. Spruill, John Sanderson and others out of which your petitioners are entitled to one third during the term of the natural life of the said Ann, the present petitioners wife. Petitioner further shows that above named defendants are minors without guardian. Petitioners therefore pray a guardian be appointed and that a writ of dower be issued.

The 1922 Tyrrell County death certificate of Henry Williams McClees, born 9 Jan 1850, shows his parents as Henry McClees and Anjelico Pledger, both born in Tyrrell County. The 1927 Tyrrell County death certificate of Hattie E. Shallington, born 24 Jun 1846, shows her parents as Thomas B. Midgett and Ann Pledger, both born in Tyrrell County. Hattie was the wife of W. E. Shallington. Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Thomas B. Midyett to Ann Pledger on 18 Aug 1845, Jos. McClees Jr. security.
