Bond dated 25 Oct 1847 in the amount of $40,000 appointing John McClees administrator of the estate of Joseph McClees deceased, Chas. McClees & Jos. Halsey securities.

Petition October Term 1847 of John McClees, Jesse McClees, Joseph McClees, Henry McClees, William McClees adult heirs and Nelson McClees, Nancy McClees & Betsy McClees, infant heirs at law of Joseph McClees deceased, by their guardian, John McClees. Petitioners show that they are tenants in common of about 40 negros which they have inherited by the death of Joseph McClees and they want to have a division of said negros. They pray the laying off of the adult's share of the negros so they may be held in severalty, with the remaing negros held in common.

Division of the negros between the heirs of Joseph McClees deceased viz. John McClees, Jesse McClees, Joseph McClees, Henry McClees, William McClees, Nancy McClees, Nelson McClees & Elizabeth McClees by Benjamin Spruill, Jesse Sanderson & Chas McClees on 20 Dec 1847. Valuation as follows.

The 1922 Tyrrell County death certificate of Henry Williams McClees, born 9 Jan 1850, shows his parents as Henry McClees and Anjelico Pledger, both born in Tyrrell County. The 1927 Tyrrell County death certificate of Hattie E. Shallington, born 24 Jun 1846, shows her parents as Thomas B. Midgett and Ann Pledger, both born in Tyrrell County. Hattie was the wife of W. E. Shallington. Thomas B. Midyett died in 1847 and Tyrrell County marriage bonds show he married Ann Pledger on 18 Aug 1845, Jos. McClees Jr. security.
