Ludford, Enoch, 1849
Petition April Term 1849 of Polly Ludford, widow of Enoch Ludford, stating that her husband left this life on or about 1 Feb 1849 leaving her unprovided for by law. Her husband, Enoch Ludford died leaving considerable personal property, out of which your petitioner is entitled to a year's support for herself and family. Petitioner prays a court order for the setting off of this allowance.
Laying off of the year's allowance of Polly Ludford, widow of Enoch Ludford, on 30 Apr 1849 by John McClees, Jesse Sanderson, John Sanderson & William Morris.
Petition October Term 1849 by James M. Alexander, administrator of Enoch Ludford deceased. He states that he has sold all the perishable property of his intestate and returned the account of sales to the court together with an inventory of the notes and accounts belonging to his intestate. Petitioner further shows that his intestate died greatly indebted and that his assets will be $300 short of covering his debts. There is an old negro man named March belonging to the estate whose sale is deemed necessary to meet the said debts. He prays an order for the sale of negro man March.
Account of the sale of Negro March belonging to the estate of Enoch Ludford dated 24 Apr 1850 for $229 to Joseph Caroon.
Petition April Term 1851 of James M. Alexander, administrator of Enoch Ludford deceased against Polly Ludford, Saml. Ludford, Thos. Ludford, Lewis Ludford, Enoch Ludford, Mary Ludford & James Ludford heirs at law of said Enoch Ludford. Petitioner further shows that all the property belonging to said estate have been sold and all the assets that have come to his hands have been exhausted in payment of said intestates debts, which in the opinion of petitioner exceed the assets by about $100. Petitioner prays a settlement of the estate.
Examination and settlement of the account of James M. Alexander, administrator of Enoch Ludford deceased, by Saml. McCleese on 26 Oct 1851. There was a balance due the administrator of $3.39.

See the 1842 estate papers of John Combs. It shows that Polly Ludford was his daughter.
The 1850 Census of Tyrrell County shows the household of Mary Ludford (38), Thomas Ludford (13), Samuel Ludford (12), James Ludford (9), Lewis Ludford (7), Mary Ludford (3) and Enoch Ludford (1).
