In the name of God Amen. I William Ludford being sick of body but of sound & perfect memory praised be God, doe make & ordain this my last will & testament hearby revocking all others in maner and form folowing

First ___(?) I give & bequeath my soul to almighty God that gave itt; hoping thorough the meritt of my Saviour Christ Jesus to inherit eternall life & my body to ye Earth from whence ot wase taken to be decently buried at ye discreation of my well beloved wife & my son William whom I apoynt Executrix and Executor of this will

Item - I give unto my son William ye land eastward from a marked gum between the two plantations & his heirs forever.

Item - I give unto my grand son William Ludford ye remaining part of land westward for ye aforesd. Gum to Cannon Simsons line to him and his heirs forever with all of houses & orchards ......(rest of line unreadable)..............

Item - I give unto my grand son William one large iron pott, one Gun, one cross cutt saw & one sett of wegess

Item - I give unto my grand daughter Sarah Ludford three cows & calves by there sids, on ye day of her marriage

Item - I give unto my grand daughter Sarah one large pewter bason & one lether truncke & one little iron pott and one small silver spoon.

Item - I give unto Samuel Cooper now an infant at George Chambers, one cow and calfe to be delivered to him when he comes to age.

Item - My will is that my well beloved wife Ann shall enjoy the plantation whearon I now live during her naturall life & then to fall to my Grandson William with all the imanities before mentioned, in witness hearof I sett my hand and afix my Seall this 1st day of May 1702.

Transcriber's Note: This will was written before the creation of Tyrrell County, but is included here because of the Tyrrell County names. A will for William Ludford, who might be the son mentioned in this will, appears in Pasquotank County in 1733.
