Galloway, Caleb, 1854
Bond dated 25 Jul 1854 in the amount of $150 appointing Alexander H. Smith administrator of the estate of Caleb Galloway deceased, Trimigain Sandling & R. D. Owens securities.
Petition October Term 1854 of A. H. Smith, administrator of Caleb Galloway deceased, who shows that the debts of the deceased amount to over $175 and the personal estate of his intestate amount to $37.73. The said Caleb Galloway owned one undivided half of a tract of land subject to the dower of his mother Patsy Galloway which joins the land of the said Patsy Galloway, Trimigan Sandlin and others, it being the tract on which Mariah Pugh now lives, she being the sister and only heir at law of the said Caleb Galloway. A sale of said land is necessary in order to pay the debts of the estate. Petitioner prays process and and order for said sale.
Petition January Term 1855 of Alexander H. Smith, administrator of Caleb Galloway deceased, who shows that Caleb Galloway owed $175 at his death. He has personal estate amounting to $37.73 and [unstated amount] from the sale of land. In addition to land already sold, Caleb Galloway owned an interest in certain cypress timber on the east side of Alligator River at The Lake and on the swamp that Alexander Owens sold to S. G. Salyer and also two warrants from the entry takers office in the name of Alexander Owens binding on said swamp. The debts of the intestate will remain undischarged unless the foregoing lands are sold. He shows that Mariah Pugh is sister of said Galloway and his only heir at law. He prays an order for said sale.
