In the name of God Amen.

This twenty sixth day of February one thousan seven hundred and ninety one I John Dozier marriner of the county of Tyrrell and state of North Carolina being sick in body but of a sound and perfect memory thanks be to almighty God caling to mind the uncertain state of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it please God to call do make constitute ordain and declare this to be my last will and testament in the manner and form following prevoking and annulling by these presents all & every will or wills here to fore by me made either by words or writing & this only is to be taken for my last will and testament in the manner and form following - -

Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Priscillah Dozier her heirs and assigns for ever one negro boy by the name of little Samuel wish came by here also one horse bridle and woman huntin saddle and one bed and furniture - -

Item I lend to my well beloved wife during her widdowhood one negro wench named Dol and one named Ab - -

Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Baley Dozier one negro man named Samuel to him his heirs and assigns for ever And after the widdowhood of my wife I lend to Lydda Dozier my daughter one negro woman by the name of Dol during her natural life if heirs to heirs lawfull begotten of her body for ever and if no issue to return to be equal divided between Bailey Dozier and John Dozier and Priscillah Dozier my children - And after the widdowhood of wife I lend to my well beloved son John Dozier during his natural life one negro woman named Ab, and if issue to his heirs lawfull begotten of his body for ever and if no issue to return and be divided between my children Bailey Dozier Lydda Dozier and Priscillah Dozier their heirs and assigns for ever - - And after my debts is paid I require my executor with the remainer part of my estate to purchase a negro girl from 10 years old to 15 for my well beloved daughter Priscillah Dozier her heirs and assigns for ever. And then what part of my estate remaining I equal divided between my well beloved wife Priscillah Dozier and my well beloved son Bailey Dozier and my well beloved daughter Lydda Dozier & my well beloved son John Dozier and my well beloved daughter Priscillah Dozier their heirs and assigns for ever - -

Item I do hereby apoint Richard Howett to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament & I leave my son Bailey Dozier in the care of Major Richard Howett and I leave my daughter Lydda Dozier in the care of Richard Stamp in Pasquotank County & I leave my son John Dozier in the care of John Bailey and his father Robert Bailey In witness where of I the said John Dozier have here unto set my hand and seal day and date before mentioned and in the fifteenth year of our independency

Personally appeared Joseph Wyatt in court & made oath on the Holy Evangelists of almighty God that he saw and heard John Dozier above named sign, seal, publish, pronounce & declare the above instrument of writing to be his last will & testament and at that time he was of sound, disposing mind & memory and at the same time he saw Joseph Phelps & Robert Wynne subscribing witnesses sign their names thereunto and further saith not

Summoms dated 10 Nov 1791 for Peter Marriner to appear before a justice of the peace and answer the complaint of Richard Howett, executor of the estate of John Dozier, that he is indebted to the estate in the amount of 18 pounds, 19 shillings & 3 pence. Judgement was made against Peter & Wrixsom Marriner on 26 Nov 1791 by Simeon Spruill for 18 pounds and 11 pence. Judgement appealed to court.

Execution dated 27 Jul 1795 and issued 31 Aug 1795 against Peter Marriner for 9 pounds, 16 shillings & 7 pence obtained by the executors of John Dozier deceased. Levied against two feather beds and all the household furniture.

There are many other documents concerning recovery of the debt of Peter Marriner and several concerning a debt of Joseph Tarkenton.
