The 1850 Census of Tyrrell County shows the household of Mary Swain (51), Abram Swain (23), Nancy Swain (20), Joshua Swain (8) and James Davenport (17). Mary Swain is the widow of Abram J. Swain who was guardian of James Davenport and left a will in 1849. Mary was a Basnight.
See the 1833 will of Jonathan Basnight who was the father of Deborah. His will states that Reddin Davenport is his son in law.
