Dated 26 November 1848


In the name of God Amen: I Sally Dillen being of feeble health but of a sound & desposing mind do make this my last Will & Testament that is I bequeath to Caroline Alexander forty acres of land on which she now lives. I also loan unto my son James the plantation on which I now live for the space of five years for the purpose of rasing & taking care of my children William, Robert, Silas, Harriet, Edward Henry. I also loan him my man Gilbert for the space of two years to assist in the support of the said children at the expiration of five years I wish my plantation to be sold & the procedes to be equally divided between James, Mary Sutton, William, Robert, Silas, Harriet and Henry at the expiration of two years my will is to have negro man Gilbert sold & the money put out on interest for the sole benefit of my son Henry. My desire is to have Edy sold in a short time & the profits divided between all my children save Henry. I also give unto my son James my dark bay filly. I desire that negro girl Eliza be sold and the proceds to be equally divided between William, Robt., Silas, Harriet, & my grand daughter Sarah Ann Alexander. I also give unto each of my unmarried children a bed & furniture the married ones having been before supplied. The residue of my property I wish to be sold & the proceeds to be equally ..................... between all my children. It is my desire that Benjamin Spruill Esquire. My son James, James Sutton & James M. Alexander act as executors of this my last Will and Testament or any one of them alone or in connection with another or others signed sealed & delivered on the 26th day of Nov. 1848 in presence of

Then was this within paper writing purporting to be the last Will & Testament of Sally Dillin Decd. Exhibited in open court by Benjamin Spruill one of the executors named therein for probate and the due execution thereof proved by Willis W. Lewis one of hte subscribing witnesses there to who swore that they saw the said Sally Dillin sign seal publish & declare said writing to be & contain her last Will & Testament: that at the time thereof she was of sound & desposing mind & memory and that she did it freely & without compulsion whereupon the said Benjamin Spruill took the oath of office of executor & entered upon the discharge of his said duties of executor ordered that the said paper writing & this probate be recorded--
