FAMILY BIBLE OF JOSEPH BATEMAN

(1845-1921, SOUNDSIDE)

This family Bible was in the possession of Lucia Hurdle Cunningham prior to her death in 1997. Lucia was born in 1913 in Tyrrell County NC and was the daughter of George N. Hurdle and Mamie Griselle Bateman. Mamie was the youngest daughter of Joseph Bateman and his wife Frances Everett, who lived in the Soundside area of Tyrrell County. The family Bible is currently in the possession of Lucia's cousin Mark Bateman of Ledyard CT, (great-great-grandson of Joseph Bateman) who transcribed the family entries and submitted it for publication.
