The 1850 Census of Tyrrell County shows the household of James Basnight (70), Martha Basnight (69), Nancy Basnight (34), Rachael Basnight (9), James Basnight (1), Martha Arnold (11), Susan Arnold (8) and Reddick Arnold (7).

It is possible that Nancy Arnold was a daughter of James Basnight considering that he was administrator of her husband's estate and that she was living in his household in 1850.
