Armstrong, Armsted, 1852
Bond dated 25 Oct 1852 in the amount of $500 appointing Jones D. Armstrong administrator of the estate of Armsted Armstrong deceased, David Clayton & Wm. G. Armstrong securities.
Petition October Term 1852 of Abi Armstrong, widow of Amystead Armstrong, who shows that her husband died intestate possessed of a small estate of personal and chattel property. She prays a court order to lay off a year's provision out of the estate for herself and family.
Laying off of the year's provision for Abi Armstrong, widow of Armstead Armstrong, on 20 Nov 1852 by David Clayton Justice of the Peace and Thos. B. Myers, Benjamin D. Gibbs & Eli Spruill. There was a deficiency of $150 to be paid by the administrator to the widow and family.
Petition January Term 1853 of Jones D. Armstrong showing that Armstead Armstrong died intestate leaving his widow Abi Armstrong, Thomas, Franklin, Arcena & Ann Armstrong infant heirs at law of the deceased. Said infants have no regular guardian and Saml. McCleese was appointed their guardian ad litem in this cause. Petitioner was appointed administrator at October Term 1852 and has sold all the chattel property, the proceeds of which have been assigned to the widow's year's allowance and leaving $160 in debts unpaid. Deceased owns an undivided interest in 200 acres joining the lands of C. L. Pettigrew bought of W. B. Armstrong by deed dated 9 Jan 1851. Sale of this land is necessary in order to pay the debts of the estate. He prays an order for sale.
Petition January Term 1853 of Abi Armstrong, widow of her late husband Armistead Armstrong, who died seixed and possessed of a tract of land joining Charles Pettigrew which he bought from W. B. Armstrong on 9 Jan 1851 containing 200 acres. Said Armistead left as heirs at law his infant children without guardian Thomas, Franklin, Arcena & Ann Armstrong. Petitioner prays her dower in said land be alloted to her and guardian be appointed for the infant heirs.
Laying off of the dower of Abi Armstrong in the lands of her deceased husband, Armsted Armstrong, on 17 Oct [1853] by Tully Davenport sheriff and Richard Davenport, B. H. Spruill, B. A. Spruill, Thos. B. Myers, W. W. Walker, J. L. Hassell, Jos. R. Norman, Tully Spruill, Benj. T. Sikes, James M. Davenport, Frederick Liverman & Henderson Lewis. She received 17 2/3 acres joining Pettigrew.
