Ordered that John J. Alexander administer on the estate of Nelson Alexander and that he enter into bond of ten thousand dollars with John McClees & Jeremiah Weskett securities.

Account of sales of Nelson Alexander was returned by the administrator.

Promissory note dated 12 Jun 1840 at Elizabeth City wherein Nelson Alexander agrees to pay F. Geffery $19.32 one day from date.

Bond dated 28 Feb 1842 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing John J. Alexander special administrator of the estate of Nelson Alexander deceased, Jeremiah Weskett & James Forbes securities. Administrator is granted authority to sell the personal estate.

Bond dated 25 Apr 1842 in the amount of ten thousand dollars appointing John J. Alexander administrator of the estate of Nelson Alexander deceased, John McClees & Jeremiah Weskett securities.

Petition October Term 1842 by Asenith Alexander, widow of Nelson Alexander deceased, whose husband died recently seized and possessed of about 200 acres of land adjoining J. J. Alexander, Jesse McLease and others. He left as heir in law a daughter named Susan, an infant of tender years without guardian. Petitioner is entitled to dower in said lands and prays a guardian ad litem be appointed to said infant.

Petition October Term 1842 by Jno. J. Alexander, administrator of Nelson Alexander deceased, showing that the perishable estate, rights and credits of his intestate are insufficient to pay the debts he owes by several hundred dollars. He prays for an order to sell two negros, Jack & Gilbert, in order to pay the debts owed by the estate.

Return by John J. Alexander, administrator of the estate of Nelson Alexander deceased, stating that he sold the negros Jack & Gilbert at six months credit on 31 Dec 1842 at Fort Landing in Little Alligator. Man Jack was sold to Asenath Alexander for $169.00 and boy Gilbert was sold to Joseph A. Spruill for $220.50.

Petition October Term 1842 by Asenath Alexander for her year's allowance from the estate of her deceased husband, Nelson Alexander.

Listing of articles alloted to Asenath Alexander, widow of Nelson Alexander deceased, for her year's support on 29 Dec 1842.

Laying off of the dower of Asenath Alexander in the land of her deceased husband, Nelson Alexander, it being 100 acres lying south of Little Alligator Creek. She was alloted 33 acres joining the road, John J. Alexander, William Weskett & Enoch Ludford. She was also alloted dower of 266 acres out of 800 acres of juniper swamp on the east side of Great Alligator River owned by her deceased husband. Commisioners were John McClees, Jesse Sanderson, Saml. G. Salyear, Elijah P. Melson, John Sanderson, Enoch Ludford, Thomas B. Midyett, Henry Covert, William N. Combs, John Spruill, Reddick Alexander & Joseph Melson.

Petition January Term 1843 of John J. Alexander administrator of Nelson Alexander stating that the estate of his intestate is so much indebted it is rendered necessary to sell two negros, a man named Hardy and a girl named Maranda and he prays a court order to do so.

Petition July Term 1843 by Jno. McLease who shows that Nelson Alexander died about the first of February 1842 and administration on his estate was granted at April Term 1842 to John J. Alexander. Petitioner further shows that said Jno. J. died about the 15th of January 1843 having taken into his possession the property of his intestate, consisting of negros, which he hired out, notes, bonds, accounts and monies to a large amount, say five thousand dollars or thereabout. Said Jno. J. left a will appointing Benjamin Spruill executor which has been admitted to probate. Petitioner shows that he has become administrator de bonis non of said Nelson and wants to settle the estate and prays the court to compel Benjamin Spruill to pay over and deliver assets of the estate in his possession so settlement can be made.

Bond dated 27 Jan 1845 in the amount of five thousand dollars appointing Benjamin Spruill guardian to Susan Alexander, John McClees & Jos. Owens securities.

Summons dated 4 Jul 1845 for John McClees as administrator to Nelson Alexander deceased to appear before a Justice of the Peace at his own house to answer the complaint of F. Jefroy to the use of John A. Shaw in a plea of debt due by note for $19.32 from 12 Jun 1840.

Petition January Term 1847 by John McClees, administrator of Nelson Alexander, who states that the estate of his intestate is indebted to him after exhausting all the assets in the amount of $249.95 with interest from 20 Jan 1847. Said Nelson left as his sole heir at law a daughter, Susan, an infant of tender years, to whom a considerable portion of real estate descended from her father and he is entitled to recover the amount owed him by the estate therefrom. He prays a copy of this petition and subpoena issue to Benjamin Spruill, guardian of said Susan, to answer this petition and that a judgement be issued for the aforesaid debt.

Bond dated 26 Apr 1852 in the amount of seven thousand dollars appointing William Basnight guardian to Susan Alexander, orphan of Nelson Alexander deceased, John A. McCalister & Benj. S. Basnight securities.
