BLAKE BAKER to JACOB BURT- 1821

This Indenture made this 5th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Twenty one between BLAKE BAKER of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina of the one part and JACOB BURT of the same County and State of the other part, Witnesseth that the said BLAKE BAKER for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and seventy five dollars to me in hand paid by the said JACOB BURT the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto him the said JACOB BURT, a certain tract or parcel of land, situate in the said County of Warren, and bounded as follows, beginning at a Red Oak DAVID H. NEWELL's corner upon the Pig Pen branch thence South 87½ West 112 poles to a stake; thence due No. 65 poles to a stake; thence due East 112 poles to a stake in ALBERT NEWELL's line; thence due So. 65 poles to a stake in DAVID H. NEWELL' line; thence East to the first tation, containing by estimation forty two acres, be the same more or less, it being the land owned by ALEXANDER D. NEWELL out of the landed Estate of JOHN NEWELL dec'd (the said ALEXANDER's father) and the reversions and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents & issues & services of the said land, together with all the Estate, right, title, and Interest of him the said BLAKE BAKER of, in & to the said tract of land, aid its appurtenances, to have and to hold, the said tract of land & its appurtenances, unto him the said JACOB BURT, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said BLAKE BAKER for himself, his heirs Exors & Admrs. the said tract of land & its appurtenances to him the said JACOB BURT his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims and demands of all persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend. In witness whereof the said BLAKE BAKER hath hereunto set his hand and seal, the day and year first above written.

DRURY BOBBITT to JOHN NEWELL SR- 1792

This Indenture made this 25th of May in the year of our Lord one thouusand Seven hundred & ninety two Between DRURY BOBBITT of Warren County State of N. Carolina of the one part & JOHN NEWELL SEN'R of the County & State afors'd of the other part, Witnesseth that the said DRURY BOBBOTT for & in consideration of the sum of Twenty Shillings Virginia currency to him in hand paid by s'd JOHN NEWELL SEN'R Hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed, released & confirmed & by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release & confirm unto the sd JOHN NEWELL SEN'R his heirs & assigns forever- a certain tract or parcel of land with the appurtenacnes thereof containing one acre, be the same more or less, lying and being in the aforesaid county & state & bounded as follows, viz- Begining at a spanish oak TAYLOR's corner, thence East along TAYLOR's line to a read oak on the road thence north along the road to a black oak thence West along a line of marked trees to a hickory in said NEWELL's line thence South along NEWELL's line to the first station. To have & to hold the said one acre of land, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging & every part thereof, unto the s'd JOHN NEWELL his heirs & assigns & the s'd DRURY BOBBITT for himself his heirs & assigns doth covenant to & with the s'd JOHN NEWELL, his heirs & assigns. Shall & may from time to time & ever hereafter peaceably & quietly have hold occupy, possess & enjoy all & singular the premises above mentioned to be granted with the appurtenances, without the least trouble hindrance, molestation or denial of him the s'd JOHN NEWELL, his heirs or assigns & the s'd DRURY BOBBITT for himself, his heirs & assigns the aforesaid land & premises & every part thereof against him, his heirs or assigns & all or every other person or persons whatsoever to the s'd JOHN NEWELL his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & date first above written.

For and in consideration of the love an affection which I have for my Grand daughter ELIZABETH M. LOYD the wife of GEO. W. LOYD I have given to her the said ELIZABETH M. LOYD one Negro girl by the name of MARY without any manner of condition to her the aforesaid ELIZABETH M. LOYD to her and her and her heirs and all of her increase forever.
In witness I have hereunto set my hand seal this 28th June 1860. And I further will warrant and defend the right title and interest to her the said ELIZABETH M. LOYD in fee. Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.

For and in consideration of the love and affection which I have for my Grand Daughter LUCY A. ROSE, wife of GEO. A. ROSE, I have given to her the said LUCY A. ROSE one Negro woman & child by the name of JANE, without any manner of condition to her the aforesaid LUCY A. ROSE to her and her heirs and all of her increase forever. In witness I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the 28th August 1860, and I further will warrant and defend the right title and interest to her the said LUCY A. ROSE in fee. Given under my hand & seal the day and date above written.

For and in consideration of the love and affection which I have for my Grandson THOMAS R. TUNSTALL I have given to him the said THOMAS R. TUNSTALL one Negro girl by the name of DINAH without any manner of condition to him the aforesaid TUNSTALL to him and his heirs and all of her increase forever. In witness I have hereunto set my hand seal this 22nd February 1855, and I further will warrant and defend the right, title and interest to him the said TUNSTALL in fee. Given under my hand and seal the day and date above written.

JOHN BURCHETT to AUSTIN NEWMAN- 1860

This Indenture made and entered into this the 15th day of March Eighteen hundred and Sixty, between JOHN BIRCHETT [sic] a coloured man of the County of Warren State of N. Carolina of the first part and AUSTIN NEWMAN of the same County and State of the second part, witnesseth that the said JOHN BIRCHETT for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and sixty three Dollars and Seventy five cents, to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained and sold by these presents doth give, grant, bargain sell and release, confirm unto the said AUSTIN NEWMAN his heirs and assigns, a certain piece or parcel of land in said County and State bounded as follows beginning at a Stone in WILLIAM E. PASCHALLS line thence North 39 ch to a pine, thence N. 17 E 20 ch 25 L to a stone on the old run of big Deep Creek, thence up said old run as it meanders to a stone WILLIAM E. PASCHALLS corner on said old run of the Creek, thence East along said PASCHALLS line 19 ch to the beginning, containing thirteen and three fourth acres, To have and to hold the above bargained land with all the privileged thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining, in fee simple, to the only proper use and behoof of him the said AUSTIN NEWMAN his heirs and assigns forever, and the said JOHN BIRCHETT for himself, and his heirs doth covenant, to and with the said AUSTIN NEWMAN his heirs and assigns the above bargained land, not only against the claim of himself and his heirs, but against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever.
In testimony, whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this the day and date first above written.

Know all men by these presents that I, A. A. BURGESS of Halifax County, North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty nine 10/100 dollars to me paid by ALF RICHARDSON of Warren County, North Carolina the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do bargain, sell, grant and convey, and by these presents do bargain, grant sell and convey unto the said ALF RICHARDSON all that tract or parcel of land adjoining the lands of JOHN ARRINGTON & Sons on the North, R. R. HARRISS on the East, the BURGESS tract on the West, and the tract sold FRANK RICHARDSON on the South containing Twenty two acres lying & being in the Fishing Creek township Warren County on the waters of Fishing Creek, the same being part of the BURGESS tract. The same to the said AL RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns to his & their, use forever I the said A. A. BURGESS covenant with the said AL RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns, that I am lawfully seized in fee of the said premises; that they are free from all encumbrances I have good right to sell the same to the said AL RICHARDSON his heirs & assigns, and that I will warrant and defend the same against the lawfull claims and demand of all persons. In testimony whereof I the said A. A. BURGESS have hereunto set my hand & seal this 15th day of February 1882.

I agree to relinquish to BLAKE BAKER all right title & Interest in and to a certain tract land known by the name of DARDEN's Tract, lying on Fishing Creek in the County of Warren; which said tract of land was devised to me during my life by the will of my old master BLAKE BAKER. Witness my hand and seal this 5th April 1821.
