This Indenture made this Twenty fifth day of February One Thousand Eight Hundred and\u00a0Seventeen between John JARMAN Jr. of the County of Duplin and State of North Carolina\u00a0of the one part and James RHODES of the County of Jones and State aforesaid of the other\u00a0part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty seven\u00a0dollars in hand paid by the said James RHODES at or before the unsealing and delivery of\u00a0these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and for the same the said John\u00a0JARMAN hath bargained sold conveyed and confirmed unto a certain piece or parcel of land\u00a0situate lying and being in the County of Jones the south side of Trent River and north side of\u00a0Tuckahoe and west side of Great branch Beginning at a Tall bay Lewis KINSEYS corner at\u00a0the run of said Great branch and runs S 68 W 134 poles to a pine the fifth corner of a survey\u00a0of one hundred and fifty acres granted to John JARMAN SEnr., then S 23 W 50 poles to a\u00a0black gum in the south prong at the mounth of Hog branch then up the various courses of said\u00a0branch 92 poles to a cluster of marked saplins then n 1 E 42 poles to a stake and two black\u00a0jacks the last corner of said one hundred and fifty acres survey then with the given him of said\u00a0survey as n 41 W 160 poles to a pine then in Beginning corner thence N 36 E 100 poles to the\u00a0second corner then N 25 E 51 poles to a stake and marked pine corner of a survey granted to\u00a0Elam RATCLIFF then with the reverse course of that line N 40 Wst 60 poles to a stake and\u00a0large maple at the run of great branch then down t he various corners of the same to the\u00a0beginning containing by estimation four hundred and fifty four acres be the same more or less\u00a0being part of several surveys as may be made more fully to appear from the records of dees and\u00a0patents rites of John JARMAN, Senr. Dec\u2019d all and singular the above mentioned described\u00a0bargained sold land to the said James RHODES To have and to hold unto him and his heirs and\u00a0assigns forever and the said John JARMAN, Jr. doth further covenant and agree to and with the\u00a0said James RHODES his heirs and assigns that he for himself his heirs executors and\u00a0administrators will from time to time and at all times hereafter Warrant and forever defend all and\u00a0every part and parcel fo the before mentioned appurtainances there unto free and claim from all\u00a0rights claims or claims of any person or persons only excepted the Taxes that may here after\u00a0become due. In witness whereof the said John JARMAN Jr. hat hereunto set his hand and seal\u00a0this day and date first before written.<\/p>\n
