But one of my Texas vets was born in 1841, Randolph Co., Alabama: Pvt. Amos Jackson Willingham, Co. E, 14th Texas (Dismounted) Cavalry, Ector\u2019s Brigade, McCown\u2019s Division, Earl Van Dorn\u2019s Army of the West, CSA. This unit fought in Tenn., headquartered at Shelbyville, at Corinth, Miss., and at Atlanta, and Shiloh. Amos married Ann Elizabeth Mathis from Tippah Co., Miss. Returned home to live at Shady Grove, adjoining Pritchett, near Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas.
