Will of LUCY SNEED-BURWELL, 1899

I LUCY SNEED BURWELL of Henderson North Carolina, do make & publish this as my last will & testament & hereby revoking all others.
I give & devise to my husband W. D. BURWELL all my estate of whatever kind to hold this same to him absolutely & in fee simple, It is my wish & desire that my said husband be my executor & is excused from giving any bond.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 5th day of Dec. 1899.
LUCY SNEED BURWELL.
 
It is my wish & desire that my husband WALTER D. BURWELL give to SPOTSWOOD R. PARKER $500 from my estate if he thinks proper.

A paper writing without subscribing Witnesses, bearing date December 5th 1899, purporting to be the last will and testament of LUCY SNEED BURWELL deceased is this day exhibited in open court for probate, by WALTER D. BURWELL, the executor therein named, and it is therefore proven by the oath and examination of MRS. TEMPIE B. PARKER, JOSEPH S. BURWELL, and SPOTSWOOD BURWELL, who having been duly sworn doth say;

MRS. TEMPIE B. PARKER that the said will was found among the valuable papers and effects of the said LUCY SNEED BURWELL after her death. And the said MRS. TEMPIE B. PARKER and JOSEPH S. BURWELL and SPOTSWOOD BURWELL, competent and credible witnesses doth say upon their oaths that they, and each of them are acquainted with the handwriting of the said LUCY SNEED BURWELL, having often send her writing, and they verily believe that the name of the said LUCY SNEED BURWELL subscribed to the said will, and the said will itself and every part thereof is in the handwriting of the saidl LUCY SNEED BURWELL.

Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 31 day of January 1908.

Before the foregoing affidavits and proofs it is considered and adjudged by the Court that the paper writing and every part thereof is the last will and testament of LUCY SNEED BURWELL, now deceased, and the same , with the foregoing examination and this certificate are ordered to be recorded and filed.
