In the name of God amen: I Michael Whitison of the State of North Carolina and County of Tyrrell being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament. First and principally I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose there of in manner and form following.

Imprimis - I give and bequeath to my grandson Michael Best forty acres of land, twenty acres out of my old patent land and twenty acres out of my new survey twenty acres of patent land is to be taken of the Eastward end of the land.

Item - I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Mary Best one heifer calf.

Item - I give and bequeath to my son John Whittson all the rest of my land.

Item - I give and bequeath to my dear and well beloved wife Margaret Whittson the use of all my movable Estate and the land whereon I now live during her widowhood and in the day of her marriage I desire that she should have her third and all the rest of my Estate I give and bequeath to my son John Whitson.

Lastly - I constitute and ordain and appoint my well beloved wife Margret Whitson and my friend John Bray whole and sole Executors and Executrix to this my last Will and Testament utterly renouncing and revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I the said Michael Whitson have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of August Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.

Produced in court by John Bray the last will and testament of Michael Whitson deceased and proved by the oath of James Best ordered to be recorded.

Also the said John Bray qualifyed as an executor to the last will and testament of Michael Whitson deceased.

Also returned an inventory of the estate of the estate of the said Michael Whitson deceased on oath ordered to be filed.
