I Susan Wood of the County of Tyrrell and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my Earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say.

First I give and bequeath to my beloved grand daughter Lina J. Latham the Bed Bedstead covering Bolster and Pillows used in the room known as the company room.

Second I give & bequeath to my beloved grand daughter Sarah D McCleese the first choice of my Beds after my grand daughter Lina J. Latham shall have taken the one heretofore mentioned.

Third I give and bequeath the residue of my estate of every description both real and personal and everything I may die possessed of to my beloved grand daughter Lina J. Latham and Sarah D McCleese to be equally divided between them.

Fourth I hereby appoint and constitute my trusty friends Edgar R Latham of Washington County and Charles McClees of Tyrrell County my lawful executors of this my last will and testament.

Fifth and Lastly. I hereby abolish and declare utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said Susan Wood set my hand and seal this 30th day of November 1877

In the matter of the Will of Susan Wood

30 October 1878

A Paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Susan Wood deceased is exhibited before the undersigned Judge of Probate in and for said County by E R Latham & Charles McClees the Executors therein named and the due execution thereof by the said Susan Wood proved by the oath and examination Thos W Swain and Melissa Barns the subscribing witness thereto who being duly sworn doth depose and say, and each for himself & herself deposeth and saith that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him (cut off) purporting to be the last will and testament of Susan Wood that the said Susan Wood in the presence of the deponant subscribed her name at the end of same paper writing which is now shown as foresaid and which bears date the 30th day of November 1877, did in the presence of this deponent acknowledged the signing the said paper writing. And the deponant for her saith that the said Susan Wood the testor aforesaid did at the time of subscribing her name as aforesaid declared the said paper writing so subscribed by her and exhibited, to be her last will and testament and this deponant did thereupon subscribe his (cut off) name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the Presence of the said testator. and this deponant further saith that at the same time when the said testator subscribed her name to the said last will and testament to aforesaid and at the time of the deponent subscribing his and her name as and attesting witness thereto as aforesaid the said Susan Wood was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information & belief of the deponant and further the deponants saith not.
