Introduction

The tables at the following links are the lists of men, arranged alphabetically, from Tyrrell County who served in the 1st and 2nd Regiments, North Carolina Union Volunteers. The information was transcribed by Mike Schoettle from an extract prepared by Gerald W. Thomas. The following fate codes were used:

A Mustered out with regiment on 6/27/65 @ New Bern (applicable to 1st NC only; 2nd NC was consol. w/ 1st on 2/27/65
B Resigned and/or discharged prior to muster out on 6/27/65 (or for 2nd NC, before consol. w/ 1st NC)
C Killed in action (KIA) or died of wounds received in action
D Died accidentally (such as drowning)
E Killed by fellow soldier in regiment
F Died while a prisoner of war
G Died of disease, illness or unspecified causes
H Last reported as missing in action (MIA) or as being captured, no further info (NFI)
H1 Last reported as MIA/being captured but survived war per census, pension applications, etc
I Deserted or reported as absent w/o leave (AWOL) per last info
J Other (not picked up on mustered rolls, rejected by Med. Officer, etc)
K Transferred to 1st NC on consolidation of 1st & 2nd Regts on 2/27/65
