Every effort has been made to transcribe this census as written. Even obvious errors are
not corrected. The readability of this census is good, so there should be relatively few
errors, however the potential for error always exists between the letters "a" and "o", and
between the letters "e" and "i". Names were often overwritten with tabulation data,
which sometimes made them difficult to read. In these cases, marriage records and other
census records were consulted for confirmation. The census taker also crossed through
surnames that were different from the head of household in some cases, but they are
presented here as originally recorded. Transcriptions of surnames, given names or initials
that are questionable are followed by (?). Information added by the transcriber is enclosed
in brackets []. Ages in this census were often corrected. Sometimes the age was corrected
where it did not match the month and year born, and sometimes the year of birth was
corrected to match the age. In some townships, the census taker struck through the age or
the year of birth and entered a corrected age or year of birth. In others, they wrote over
the incorrect year of birth or age, making it very difficult to determine the original
information. Wherever possible, the corrected age/year of birth and the original age/year
of birth have been transcribed. The original is shown with a strike through.
This transcription is organized by page number within the townships.
There is an index to each person in the entire census. It is arranged alphbetically so you
won't have to scan through each page looking for surnames of interest. Each person in the
index is linked to their respective census page. Merely click on the person's name in the
index and you will go to that person in the census. When you are done looking at the page
click on your browser's BACK button to return to the index right where you left it. If you
want to go to other pages or a different area of the index, you must return to the
introduction page. At the bottom of the page, you can click on the next or
previous page of the township. On the last page of the township census, clicking "Next page"
will take you to the first page of the census of the next township. Likewise, if you are on the first page of
the township census, clicking on "Previous page" will take you to the last page of the prior
township.
Some families are split between pages in the census. If the family you are researching is the
first or last family on the page, you will need to check the adjoining page.
As always, even though this data is presented here, it is best to check the original source.
