In the name of God amen: The 6th day of January in the year of our Lord 1808 I Benjamin Spruill Jur. being sick but of perfect sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be to God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following ---

Imprimise - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Lois Spruill one negro man named Aron one negro worman named Hett two children named Edy & Emperor Little Chloe Beeb one negro boy named Stephen one negroe man named Joe three feather beds and furniture one yellow chest one horse named Fippe one mare name Phlly and her colt two cows and calves two yoke of steers ten head of sheep all the hogs that I have at this time all the corn and pork that I have on hand---

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughters Agnes H. Spruill and Rosina E. Spruill their heirs and assigns forever, two negro women named Big Lucy & Little Lucy Mary Howell Jack & Bunicomb, Little Aron Charity and Charles Cooper Jack one feather bed and furniture to each ---

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved daugthers Polly W. B. Spruill her heirs and assigns one negro woman named Moria one negro girl Venous one negro name Hasty one negro girl name Belt one negro man named Jacob one feather bed and furniture ---

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Benjamin J. Spruill one negro woman named Chloe one negro girl named Pen one negro boy name Nero one negro man named Moses the manner Plantation whereon I now live with all the lands thereunto belonging my quarter plantation and all the lands thereunto belonging containing several deeds one bed and furniture my Hawkins plantation and all the lands therunto belonging if the said should die before he arrives to lawful age or marries the negroes before given to him are to return to his three sisters before named the manner plantation to Polly W. B. Spruill the Quarter Plantation & R. Elizabeth H. Spruill the Hawkins plantation & lands I return to Agnis H. Spruill.

Item - I lend the whole of my property above mentioned of every kind to my beloved wife Lois Spruill for the purpose of raising and clothing and educating my children and also raising the young negroes that are or hereafter may be born in my family from any charge here after to be made against my children heretofore named until my children arrives to lawful age or marries.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lois Spruill my riding chair and harniss my carts and all my plantation tools and utensils whatsoever.

Item - I lend the use of my household and kitchen furniture to my beloved wife Louis Spruill during her natural life except my mahogany desk which desk I give and bequeath to my beloved son Benjamin J. Spruill when he arrives to lawful age it is my further will that all my stock not before given and one judgement against Willis Draper also my accounts and notes be disposed of to the greatest advantage for the purpose of paying all my just debts by executors heretofore to be named. I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lois Spruill my whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me made retifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in testimaony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written in the presence of us.

I Benjamin Spruill Junr. being sick of body but sound in mind do make and ordain this as a codicil to my last Will and Testament made and signed as above I will and bequeath in case that my well beloved wife Lous Spruill should be delivered of a son form her present pregnancy that the said sone shall possess one half of all my lands which I have before given to my son Benjamin Spruill and that he shall heir an equal part of the whole of my personal estate but if on the contrary my wife should be delivered of a girl child fromher present pregnancy that the said child shall possess an equal part of my personal property in comm with my other daughters. I also will that in case of the death of either of my children before they come of age or marry that my wife Louis Spruill heir an equall part of their estate with my children I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 31 day of April 1808.

April 31 1808 then approved before me Benjamin Spruill J.P. John McCrae and Benjamin Marriner and qualified to the above insturment that he Benjm. Spruill acknowledged his signature to this instrument.

This Will was proved in open court agreeable to form of law by the oath of Charles Spruill and John Marriner Junr. which was ordered to be filed and Louis Spruill came into court the same day and qualified executrix to this Will agreeable to law.
