July Session 1829

On motion ordered that administration on the estate of James Simmons be granted to Benj. Sikes, the widow Lurenda Simmons having assigned the right of administration to said Sykes he giving bond in the sum of $1000 with Jeremiah Wynne & Charles McClees securities.

October Session 1829

Benj. Sikes administrator returned an inventory & account of sales of the estate Henry Galaway deceased & filed - also the same of the estate of James Armstrong deceased & filed.

Charles McClees returned dowers in land for Dorcas Galaway & Lucinda Simmons & filed.

January Session 1830

Benj. Sikes returned into open court the years allowance of Dorcas Galloway widow Henry Galloway & Lucinda Simmons widow of James Simmons and filed.

July Session 1830

A deed from Lucinda Simmons to Benjamin Sikes for her dower in land was exhibited in open court and proved by the oath of Henry German and ordered to be registered.

April Session 1831

Ordered that Jno. A. Patrick, Dempsey Liverman & Jos. White be appointed auditors to settle the estate of James Simmons & Henry Galiway & report to next term.

October Session 1831

Ordered that John A. Patrick, Demps Liverman & Jos. White audite and settle the estate of James Simmons & Henry Galaway with Benj. Sikes the administrator.

January Session 1832

The audited accounts of James Simmons & Henry Galaway were exhibited in open court & filed.

Bond dated 28 Jul 1829 in the amount of one thousand dollars appointing Benjamin Sikes administrator of the estate of James Simmons deceased, Jeremiah Wynne & Charles McCleese securities.

Petition July Term 1829 by Lucinda Simmons widow of James Simmons deceased who died intestate and Benjamin Sykes was appointed to administer upon his estate. Petitioner prays that commissioners be appointed to lay off her year's allowance out of the estate to her.

Petition July Term 1829 by Lucinda Simmons widow of James Simmons deceased who died intestate seized and possessed of 60 acres joining Benjamin Sykes & William Simmons. Prays the court order her dower in this land be layed off to her.

Court order dated the fourth Monday in July 1829 and issued 17 Aug 1829 to lay off to Lucinda Simmons her dower in the lands of her deceased husband, James Simmons agreeable to her petition.

Laying off of the dower of Lucinda Simmons in the lands of her deceased husband James Simmons on 29 Oct 1829 by Charles McClees Deputy Sheriff and Jacob Snow, John Sikes, Joseph White, Jabez Smith, Lemuel Leary, Robert Linton, David Cooper, Benjamin Chambers, Thoroughgood Parisher, Obediah Chambers, William McKinney & Henry Jarman, disinterested freeholders. James Simmons died seized and possessed of 80 acres in Frying Pan. The 1/3 part layed off to Lucinda Simmons joined Benjamin Sikes & Godfrey and included the dwelling house and all out houses and improvements.

Bond dated 27 Apr 1835 in the amount of two hundred dollars appointing John Simmons guardian of Eliza, John, Polly & Snowden Simmons orphans of James Simmons deceased, Jesse Hassell & William Simmons securities. land
