Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1798

Ordered that Rachel Row widow of Levi Row have leave of administration on the estate of said deceased and give bond and security in the sum of 500 pounds John Norman & Jesse Hatfield securities and quallifyed accordingly.

October Session 1798

Rachel Rowe administratrix of Levi Rowe deceased returns in open court on oath an inventory of said estate filed.

Ordered that Rachel Rowe administratrix of Levi Rowe have leave to sell the perishable part of the estate of said deceased and make returns to next court.

January Session 1799

Rachel Rowe administratrix of Levi Rowe deceased returns in open court an account of sales of the estate of said deceased amounting to 49 pounds, 16 shillings & 7 pence ordered filed.

October Session 1799

Ordered that John Rowe orphan of Levi Rowe deceased be bound to Richard Nichols until he arrives to lawful age to learn the art and mistery of a mariner said master is to find said apprentis a set of seamans books & {unreadable} with a suit of good cloaths at his freedom and seamans cloaths for one year after he is free.

April Session 1800

Joseph Phelps Henry Norman Esquires and Asa Phelps who was appointed to audite and settle the accounts of Rachel Rowe administratrix of the said estate of Levi Rowe deceased with the estate return in open court the accounts and find the administratrix have made a settlement in full ordered filed.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Levi Roe to Rachel Davenport on 6 Apr 1785, securities Robert Wynne and George Wynne; also the marriage of Elkanah Davenport to Rachel Wynn on 8 Feb 1778, William Edwards Sr. security. Estate records of Elkanah Davenport who died in 1783 confirm that his wife, Rachel, subsequently married Levi Rowe.
